Death is not the greatest loss in life. The greatest loss is what dies inside us while we live. ...
I saw this when I was signing on to the AOL homepage and since I make no bones or apologies about my faith I thought it was worth sharing. The last 2 are ones that came from my own church (they're not on the AOL article).
This is a list of bizarre messages found on church signs. They might sound strange but it probably gets a lot of people wondering about the message.
Okay, this isn't a church sign but it was on one of my favorite t-shirts while in college and I now have it on a coffee mug.
In the beginning when the world was Young and Restles.. The Lord said, You are All My Children. Let me be your Guiding Light and I will take you to Another World.
Some friends of mine are church planters in Kansas and the preacher sent me this yesterday. I thought it was really good and worth passing on.
In 1916, a minister and outspoken advocate for liberty, William J. H. Boetcker, published a pamphlet entitled The Ten Cannots .
1) You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
2) You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
3) You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.
4) You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
5) You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.
6) You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.
7) You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.
8) You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.
9) You cannot establish security on borrowed money.
10) You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.
It's Friday! Here's wishing everyone a great day and a wonderful weekend. I'll be at the "slumber party" and board games tonight. Hope to see some of you there ;+) Gigi
Recently a friend "taught" me that it's not always the choices we make that determine our destiny but sometimes our destiny is determined by the way we react to the choices other people have made for or against us.
umm...that's an original thought from me ;+) I'll be thanking my dear friend later for that wonderful little gem that she didn't even know she passed my way!

Great minds distinguish themselves not simply with a grasp of the extraordinary, but also with an extraordinary grasp of the simple. (unknown)
Whatever lies before me is not blocking my next step; it is my next step. ~Maureen Brady

According to legend, on the night of the holy birth delicate flowers blossomed among the hay and straw in the Christ child's manger crib, honoring the birth of this gentle babe who lay upon nature's sweet-smelling bed.
In the hustle and bustle of things remember this: Jesus is the reason for the season. And we are the reson that He gave His son.
There is one day that is ours; when all Americans that are not self-made go back home to Mom's homemade biscuits and turkey and all the fixin's. We marvel at how much things at the old homestead have changed and then we bow our head and give thanks for those still with us. (Unknown)
To everyone at Viewpoints: May you have a happy and safe Thanksgiving! May you be blessed with good weather and safety on the roads. I hope you all have the best Thanksgiving ever and make some memories that you can cherish.

Time is too slow for those who wait, too swift for those who fear, too long for those who grieve, too short for those who rejoice, but for those who love, time is eternity. ~Henry VanDyke
They say that the greatest measure of love is not what you are willing to give but rather what you are willing to give up. Some call this sacrifice. (unknown)
I wish I was a glow-worm. A glow-worm's never glum. 'Cause how can you be grumpy when the sun shines out your bum.
Some people, no matter how old they get, never lose their beauty--they merely move it from their faces to their hearts. ~Martin Buxbaum
I am so glad to be an American to live in the greatest nation in the world. A land that has many freedoms and priveleges because of the brave who fought for them.
It Has Always Been the Soldier:
It is the Soldier, not the reporter who has given us the freedom of the press;
It is the Soldier, not the poet who has given us the freedom of speech;
It is the Soldier, the campus organizer who has given us freedom to demonstrate;
It is the Soldier, Who salutes the flag; who serves beneath the flag; and whose coffin is draped by the flag...
Yes, it has always been the soldier. (author unknown)
A tale from the Tao:
Once there was a man displeased at the sight of his footprints and shadow. Deciding to escape from them, he ran. The more he ran, the more footprints appeared. His shadow easily kept up with him also. Thinking he was going too slow, he ran faster and faster without stopping, until he collapsed and died from exhaustion. If he had stood completely still, there wouldn't have been any footprints and if he had just rested in the shade, his shadow would have disappeared...~Chuang-Tse
Insanity is defined as doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results.
In light of the election I give you the following statement. When I was hospitalized for anorexia the third or fourth time a therapist gave this to me and I wrote it in my journal:
Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today. When I am disturbed; it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation--some fact of my life unacepptable to me and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment. Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world (or my life) by mistake!
God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot the change. The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.
Peace and blessings to us all and to all a goodnight! ~Gigi
Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed...Every morning a lion wakes up. It knows it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death. It doesn't matter whether you are a lion or gazelle...when the sun comes up you'd better be running. ~unknown

I'm listening to Alabama sing "My Home's In Alabama" and it takes me back to the day when my best friend and I got to go inside Randy Owens' home and visit with him and his wife. He gave me an Alabama Christmas ornament too and I still have it! I love Alabama, the group and the state!
Courtney11 generated a thread on the discussion board, "Holiday Recipes." I have already posted 2 recipes. I thought that since Halloween is past and we are now officially entering the holiday season that some of you might visit this forum and share your recipes with us too!
Risk more than others think is safe. Care more than others think is wise. Dream more than others think is practical. Expect more than others think is possible. ~Cadet Maxim, USMA

We could learn a lot from crayons: Some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all have to learn to live in the same box.
Never confuse excellence with perfection. Man can produce excellence but ONLY God can produce perfection.
