I saw this when I was signing on to the AOL homepage and since I make no bones or apologies about my faith I thought it was worth sharing.  The last 2 are ones that came from my own church (they're not on the AOL article).

This is a list of bizarre messages found on church signs.  They might sound strange but it probably gets a lot of people wondering about the message.

• Stop, drop and roll does not work in Hell.
• Seven days without prayer makes one weak.  (We have also had that on our sign)
• Sign broke.  Message inside.
• Don't give up!  Even Moses was a basket case.
• Eternity--Smoking or nonsmoking?
• Forbidden fruits create many jams.
• Jesus died for "My Space" in Heaven.
• Worry is the dark room where negatives develop.
• 1 cross + 3 nails= 4giveness.
• Think you're perfect?  Try walking on water.

Okay, this isn't a church sign but it was on one of my favorite t-shirts while in college and I now have it on a coffee mug.

In the beginning when the world was Young and Restles.. The Lord said, You are All My Children.  Let me be your Guiding Light and I will take you to Another World.

Some friends of mine are church planters in Kansas and the preacher sent me this yesterday.  I thought it was really good and worth passing on.

In 1916, a minister and outspoken advocate for liberty, William J. H. Boetcker, published a pamphlet entitled The Ten Cannots .

1)      You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.

2)      You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.

3)      You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich.

4)      You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.

5)      You cannot build character and courage by taking away man's initiative and independence.

6)      You cannot help small men by tearing down big men.

7)      You cannot lift the wage earner by pulling down the wage payer.

8)      You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income.

9)      You cannot establish security on borrowed money.

10)   You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they will not do for themselves.

Recently a friend "taught" me that it's not always the choices we make that determine our destiny but sometimes our destiny is determined by the way we react to the choices other people have made for or against us.

In light of the election I give you the following statement.  When I was hospitalized for anorexia the third or fourth time  a therapist gave this to me and I wrote it in my journal:

Acceptance is the answer to all my problems today.  When I am disturbed; it is because I find some person, place, thing or situation--some fact of my life unacepptable to me and I can find no serenity until I accept that person, place, thing or situation as being exactly the way it is supposed to be at this moment.  Nothing, absolutely nothing, happens in God's world (or my life) by mistake! 

God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot the change.  The courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference.

I'm listening to Alabama sing "My Home's In Alabama" and it takes me back to the day when my best friend and I got to go inside Randy Owens' home and visit with him and his wife.  He gave me an Alabama Christmas ornament too and I still have it! I love Alabama, the group and the state!

Courtney11 generated a thread on the discussion board, "Holiday Recipes."  I have already posted 2 recipes.  I thought that since Halloween is past and we are now officially entering the holiday season that some of you might visit this forum and share your recipes with us too!

I started a topic under general discussions titled "Believing in Santa Claus"--go by and join the fun.  If anything, just reminisce with us all for a while.  This morning on the way to work I listened to my first Christmas CD of the season.  I know it's a little early, but around town and in my heart--It's beginning to feel and look a lot like Christmas ;+) 

We could learn a lot from crayons: Some are sharp, some are pretty, some are dull, some have weird names, and all are different colors...but they all have to learn to live in the same box.
