My husband and I stayed at the Signature at MGM Grand last month (January 2009).  The rooms were spacious, comfortable and well-maintained.  The location is convenient to the MGM Grand, the Strip and my husband's company's office.  We were very impressed ... until our second day.  Due to the economy and the season, the gift shop (which is TINY - another complaint) has only one employee and is closed during the mid-morning.  I asked the Concierge (and eventually a Front Desk Manager) if they could open it and charge our room.  (We all know that, at the least, the hotel manager has...
