I bought this same model by Magnavox at our local Wal-Mart for under a hundred dollars earlier this year, thinking I was getting a bargain.  I've been buying DVD recorders since 2002 when they were priced on average of $650.00 and so I know a good deal about them.  When I first purchased this I was pleased with everything about it: picture quality, S-video connections and the option to change the thumbnail on the menus which other machines don't have.  I was so pleased in fact that I was thinking about buying another unit.  But five months after I purchased this the unit died on me.
