Who is Viewpoints Network?

We are a team of committed and experienced professionals who have been involved with the Internet since 1995. We have experience launching several well-known web-based brands that became leaders within their categories, serving tens of millions of consumers. This experience, coupled with our own natural curiosity and desire to build something of real lasting value, led us to take a close look at the power of social media in early 2006.

 

What is Viewpoints Network?

Viewpoints.com is an exciting new website that taps into the need for people to share their personal experiences. To voice their opinions. To show others the way. To share insight gained from personal experience. In other words, to review. But Viewpoints is different than other review sites. How? Viewpoints allows people to post reviews across the most comprehensive range of categories of any reviews site. From movies, to restaurants, to education, to health care, to travel and hundreds of other categories in between. And best of all, Viewpoints provides an extensive, easy to understand profile of every reviewer. By visiting Viewpoints, anyone can share—or receive—useful information to help them make smarter decisions.

 

What we believe - our values

We believe that the Internet is fundamentally changing the paradigm of information creation and distribution, or, as Leon, our VP of Technology likes to say "the architecture of participation." The democratization of media and content empowers individuals to share, inform, educate and participate in the creation of content that is credible, comprehensive and complete. We think that this change is important and fundamental, and its true impact will be realized for decades to come. We will seek to be inclusive, transparent, respectful and ethical in all that we do.

 

Our commitment to you

We are humbled by the opportunity to build a community, a brand and a service that is of genuine and real value to millions of consumers. We don't pretend to have all the answers. We are committed to listening and responding thoughtfully, and working hard to make the right choices that are in the best long term interest of the service. We are in this for the long haul. We expect our first release to be very good, but we also know that every month that passes we will make it better.

 

The market need we are addressing

  • More than 85 percent of consumers use the Web to research big-ticket purchases, including airline tickets, consumer electronics and automobiles, according to an April retail report from eVOC Insights and RelevantView.
  • In a recent study, (11/06) Pew found that among adults, 35% of internet users have created content and posted it online. More specifically, 30% of internet users have rated a product, service or person using an online rating system

Despite the very high rate of usage within the ratings and reviews category, there is no clear category leader that has established a well known and trusted brand. In fact the two leading sites each have less than 5% reach. This is due in part to the fact that the leading services in this market are owned by large billion dollar companies whose core and primary business is selling - not providing unbiased, balanced information about those same products and services. We will offer a service that is credible, complete, comprehensive, easy to use and personally meaningful.
