Zyrtec Allergy Medicine Review Summary

Do you have severe allergies? Zyrtec Allergy Medicine can help you to lead a normal life without the sneezing, coughing, runny and itchy eyes, and other allergy symptoms, say our relieved reviewers. They love the results they get with Zyrtec. This prescription medication comes in a variety of forms and can relieve even the worst allergies. Reviewer Customeright says, "It was the answer to my prayers - I even nicknamed it the 'Little Miracle'." Our reviewers caution that the medication is "insanely expensive" if you don't have prescription insurance so be sure to check to see if Zyrtec is covered under your health care plan. Due to the price, Cat says, " I recommend Zyrtec, but only if you've tried Claritin, or its generic form Loratadine, and have found that it doesn't work well for you." Looking for over the counter allergy medications? We have reviews of many brands for you to read.

Allergies are nothing new to me. I've dealt with them for as long as I can remember. I was tested as a teen but my doctor didn't recommend allergy shots at that time and left me to try prescription after prescription to get results. I had pretty much given up on finding any medication either over... review »

I have tried just about every allergy medication on the market in my time and Zyrtec (cetirizine HCL) is just one in a long line of oral allergy medicines that I've taken for long periods of time. I started taking Zyrtec a few years ago before Claritin went over the counter, just because my doctor preferred...

As a major year-round allergy sufferer for as long as I can remember, I've tried practically everything to stop the itchy watery eyes, the itchy nose, and the sneezing and sinus problems that sometimes plague me. I've also been on almost every OTC and prescription allergy med out there. Then about 4 years ago I was given a prescription for Zyrtec 10mg (prior to it going OTC), and at the time it was the answer to my prayers - I even nicknamed it the 'Little Miracle'. Initially Zyrtec worked better than anything else I'd taken including Claritin, Flonase, Nasonex, Allegra, Benadryl, Sudafed, and... review »

mild asthma, always congested, an allergy sufferer

I've suffered from allergies and exercise-induced asthma for approximately 8 years. My medical expenses were covered 100% throughout college because I was a varsity athlete, so it was no surprise that Northwestern doctors prescribed top-notch medication to combat my allergies and asthma. I took Allegra-D, Rhinocort Aqua, Singulair, Albuterol and Flovent daily for almost four years!

Well, athletic retirement was quickly upon me my senior year and I realized that I could not keep up with my expensive prescription medications. I needed a subtitute. Enter: Zyrtec. My college doctor recommended I try...

I was checking out some reviews here on Viewpoints the other day and found out that my favorite allergy med is now being sold over the counter.  Yippy!

I kept telling my doctor that Zyrtec worked great for me, but he kept giving me nasal spray and I don't like nasal spray gosh darn it!

Zyrtec works for indoor and outdoor allergies.  At work they have been moving things all over the place and stirring up a lot of dust and my head was all blocked up to where I couldn't hear and nothing was working for me.  After reading the review by "sfritz64" saying Zyrtec was being sold over the counter now,...

I may be a rare exception to the rule, but Zyrtec made me so sleepy I was unable to function. I know this is unusual, but if you try the medication and find yourself unable to function, try stopping the medicine to see if this is the cause. I can take Allegra or Claritin, but Zyrtec takes me out.

After several years of paying different co-pays for this medication for the last 5 years, it's finally going "over the counter"!  Is that a good thing or a bad thing??  I'll bet it will be just like when Claritin went over the counter.  Expensive at first, and then gradually getting cheaper.  This is a drug that I certainly can't live without, or if I did, my life would be filled with sinus infections and more hay fever, allergies, and asthma than I already have.

I have come to depend on this  drug, and when I went to have it filled the other day, I was told that if I filled it now, it would...

Zyrtec is the only allergy medication that I have tried that doesn't cause drowsiness and actually keeps all of my allergy symptoms away for a full 24 hours.  Without Zyrtec I would have red, itchy, watery eyes anytime I stepped outside or came near a cat.  There would be sneezing and itching around my nose and an occasional sore throat.

The small size of the tablet makes it much easier to take on a daily basis along with my other medications.  I have also found that the store brands of Zyrtec work just as well as the name brand, saving me a great deal of money each month.

Zyrtec just went OTC! As the commercials say, it really does work 2x as fast as Claritin and targets more allergies! As a person working closely with medications, I would recommend Zyrtec to allergy sufferers who are not getting their relief from Claritin.

As soon as I feel my allergies coming on, I take one of these and I start to feel better.  I've suffered from allergies for years and tried several different things, some prescription, some not, but this is the ONE medicine that helps.  AND it's available without a prescription now!  That makes it so much more affordable.  What used to cost me $ 50.00 (with insurance) now costs me about $ 25.00 for a thirty day supply.  It is also offered in generic form, which would make it even cheaper, but I trust the Zyrtec brand so I stick with it.

I take the Zyrtec D, which just means it has a decongestant. ...

I 've never tried prescription allergy medicines and don't think my symptoms are severe enough to warrant it, but I am a seasonal allergy sufferer.  I have tried many over-the-counter allergy remedies over the years and none of them compare to Zyrtec.  This product eradicated all my allergy symptoms fairly quickly and for the rest of the day.  Because Zyrtec does take time to start working, I try to take every the morning during 'high allergy days' whether or not I have symptoms.  This way I'm sneeze free for the rest of the day.  My only complaint is the price.  It is almost twice the...

I had been getting pink- eye at the beginning of every Spring since I was a baby, I have skin alleregies and hay fever - I am allergic to the natural oils that my skin makes.  I was a walking allergic reaction.  Finally, when I couldn't deal with waking up in the morning and having to pry my eyes open and the perpetual itchy arm, I went to see my GP (general practioner).

He gave me a script for Zyrtec and it changed my life!

I am not one to remember to take pills so I took it for two weeks and to my amazement I haven't had any allergy symptoms for over two years, well at least the pink and hay...

The folks at Zyrtec got this one WRONG!  The OTC version does not work like the prescription!  I'd been on the 'script version for about 13 years with much success!  I couldn't go more than a day without it. Now, with the OTC version, my nose is constantly running, watery eyes, itchy... you name it... And one of my co-workers just made the same remark so we went online and now realize that we are not the only ones.

Anyone have a suggestion?... I've tried adding other types of allergy meds inc. Flonase and Advair, but the side effects were worse than the problem I was trying to treat. ...

The actual real brand Zyrtec isgood, the generic didn't  seem to work as well, but now it's not covered by health plans because it's available OTC. I haveto take cingulair along with zyrtec for full relief, by it'self I get 1/2 relief.
