Zyrtec Completely Reversed My Severe Allergic Reaction!!

I was recently hospitalized and treated with oral antibiotics for a MRSA Staph infection that was quite serious and can sometimes be fatal. On the fourth day of ingesting the antibiotics I developed a sudden severe allergic reaction causing my throat to swell and my body was covered with raised welts that were terribly itchy. Once the medical team stabilized me with two doses of Epinephrine shots, they continued to treat me orally with Zyrtec and its been amazing in its positive results. In the interim, my 14 year old daughter came down with a seasonal virus which is not treatable with antibiotics. Our family doctor prescribed Zyrtec for treatment of her symptoms, hoping to make her a little less miserable. This is a child who is extremely sensitive to ANY over the counter medication - it always makes her feel "yucky and sleepy." Not Zyrtec! She was able to go on with her day at school and even continue into the evening with her ballet classes four nights a week. We are not a family of "allergy sufferers" by any means, but its sure great to know that there are medicines like Zyrtec available to us for various different uses, not just allergies! Here's to our health in 2009 knowing we are a little more confident in OTC medicines available to us like ZYRTEC!
