I finally took my daughter to a children's allergist after over four years of her suffering miserable seasonal allergies in the fall. Her unending cough began during the middle of October and went through the end of November.  It was horrible, especially at night.  I knew it wasn't just a cough, but couldn't get her pediatrician on board.  I was referred to a top notch allergist who my son sees that has a peanut allergy.  He immediately prescribed Zyrtec chewables.  This Fall has been wonderful.  She takes one chewable at night and that is it.  No side effects.  It is very expensive, $40 with our copay, but so worth not seeing her suffer.  The upside is, this will be going over the counter very soon.  Can't wait.
