As soon as I feel my allergies coming on, I take one of these and I start to feel better. I've suffered from allergies for years and tried several different things, some prescription, some not, but this is the ONE medicine that helps. AND it's available without a prescription now! That makes it so much more affordable. What used to cost me $ 50.00 (with insurance) now costs me about $ 25.00 for a thirty day supply. It is also offered in generic form, which would make it even cheaper, but I trust the Zyrtec brand so I stick with it.
I take the Zyrtec D, which just means it has a decongestant. I have nasal polyps, so if I don't take action immediately after feeling congestion, it takes me a long time to feel better. Zyrtec D offers me quick and consistent relief of the congestion and sneezing, along with drying up a runny nose and helping with itchy eyes and/or throat due to allergies.
Although the bottle states that there may be side effects, such as drowsiness or sleeplessness, I have never felt any side effects at all. It doesn't make me sleepy or anxious, just gives me the relief that I need when I'm not feeling well.
When it was prescription, of course, it came in a bottle. Now that it doesn't, however, it comes in a box. Each pill is individually sealed, which I realize is for my own safety, but it's a bit of a pain trying to get each pill out of the packaging. They say it's "easy open", but they fibbed.
