I have been doing surveys for various groups for years...Literally.   Just recently, I came to the conclusion that the survey companies are being paid huge sums by corporations to gather these opinions that shape the products and services which we buy.  While the surveys are convenient, siimple, point and click online activities....well, the time spent doesn't usually match up with the reward points given, especially if you weigh it against how many points you have to have for redemption.  A $10 gift card for a restaurant can cost you 4000 points, and at 50-100 points per survey, that is a real pile of surveys taken for a gift card that might not even cover one lunch meal with drink.   And admittedly Zoom panel is one of the more generous ones both in numbers of surveys offered and rewards for completing them.  However, I have noticed a trend recently.  You will get, say 2/3rds of the way through a survey and suddenly a message pops up that the demographic group you represent has already filled its quota, and they won't need your further responses.  You don't get points, or you get a much lesser amount of points, due to be eliminated on your demographic info.  And as you have to provide your household make-up, and other demographic information when you sign into these groups, and supposedly that information is to insure that you receive surveys that reflect your interests and groups.....how is it that you are continually being disqualified for surveys that they have invited you to take in the first place.   I think that they are starting to structure the surveys in such a way that you give them the necessary information for their statistical purposes, but because they don't allow you to finish, you don't get the points.   And then when I multiply that over the number of studies that I have started and then got booted.  I am spending my time for literally pennies.  It is cool to get free stuff, but by the time you are actually ready to redeem, you could have done a myriad of other things with that time-even babysitting for a couple hours for a neighbor or taking in somebody's mail on vacation, and get a much larger reward for time spent.  Zoom panel is one of the nicer ones, but they all seem to head in the same direction, and they are all telling you that your are receiving entries into their drawing for prizes ranging from $500 to $5000 dollars, but I have never won a single prize (and I have been doing this even before it was online and by snail mail) dating back probably 20 years.  If you have the time to spend, it is a great time filler, but you ain't gonna make a living at it.

I couldn't agree more. I just did a LONG survey and, right at the end, it said I wasn't qualified. Well, heck, why not say that? They have all my answers and don't have to reward me with anything. I have also stopped doing surveys unless I see CASH in my account. There aren't many who do that but, if they want my time and opinions, they have to give back.

I have started dumping them one by one, because it really isn't a productive use of my time, and these surey companies are being paid huge bucks to do the survey work for corporations...they pocket the profits and string us along with the promise of sweepstakes. Trust me $5000 awarded once every quarter doesn't even begin to touch the fees that major corporations are paying for this kind of statistical gathering. If we don't participate, they don't make money. I am tired of others being paid for my time and effort.

I just went into my e-rewards because they indicated that if I didn't redeem my points, I would lose them. I had to struggle to find a way to spend the $84.50 in e-rewards bucks, because so many choices were listed as out of stock and unavailable, and the other options were really non-usable...Example a $75 off certificate for Neiman Marcus, but you had to use it online at the discount store and had to make a purchase of over $250 to use it....sounds like a non-reward to me, and I am dumping e-rewards just as soon as the certificates and premiums I ordered arrive.

This sounds similar to e-rewards. You get 80% through the survery and they say ''nevermind''. Maybe there are better sites out there, but I think most have gotten stingy on rewards.

I do surveys and stuff bit only for money now. I do NFO and a couple of others. They really are all going the way of sweepstakes and stuff and I never, even win.
