About two months ago I was at the doctor's office having my yearly womanly tests and just started crying my eyes out.  Not because of the annoying, invasive tests, but because the questions my doctor had asked me just brought the emotions of a really bad year to the surface.  This, of course, concerned her so we had a long talk about some things which ended with me leaving with a prescription for Zoloft.

I had taken Zoloft once before.  Once a day for a week then twice a day from then on.  The problem I had with this plan is that I could barely keep my eyes open.  I felt much better, calmer, less freaked out, but my personality was flat and I felt really tired for about 4 hours after taking the pill.  I eventually just stopped taking it.

So this time she took this into consideration and had me take half of a pill at bedtime so that any sleepiness would 1. happen while I was sleeping; and 2. help me fall asleep faster and stay asleep.  That worked out pretty good.  I was able to fall asleep easily at night and was not falling asleep in my Cheerios in the morning.  I felt calm, in control, not depressed.  But I still felt flat.  Like just kind of indifferent about most everything and not really experiencing joy so again I stopped taking it.

Bottom Line:  I did not have some of the really unpleasant side effects that some people have and was not sleepy all the time like my first time taking Zoloft.  It made me feel better but left me feeling flat and not happy or positive at all.  Going back tomorrow to try something else.  3 stars.

I can completely sympathize w/ you, Buggheart! I have been taking this medication for my chronic depression, anxiety and panic disorders. It may have slightly lifted the depression, but I don't have any zest for life like I used to have while taking other antidepressants. I also feel flat and cannot think positively about anything! I wish you all the best and my prayers are w/ you! I hope we can both get unstuck from the rut we're in!.

Paula, I was on zoloft for quite I while. I am now on a wellbutrin/klonopin cocktail and it works very well. Take care of yourself. Jo
