Zoloft  —

I must admit I'm not the biggest fan of SSRIs. I think my reluctance to take this type of medication is the result of not having depression, but an anxiety disorder. Prior to taking Zoloft, I was on Luxox, or fluvoxamine, which I found to be incredibly ineffective for anxiety. After a month of bad dry mouth, restlessness, and insomnia, I decided to go back to my doctor to discuss alternative treatments.

That's when I was introduced to Zoloft, an SSRI commonly prescribed to individuals for anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), etc. Given my experiences with Luvox, I was anticipating the side effects (i.e. dry mouth). To my surprise, I did not experience any with Zoloft. This may be attributed to a very low dose I am currently prescribed (12.5 mg) but I can honestly say that I am grateful that my doctor was able to find an SSRI that worked for me.

In terms of side effects, I have not experienced any weight gain or insomnia. I have heard that it can cause drowsiness in some individuals, but that didn't happen with me (I have ADHD, so naturally I don't think that would happen anyway). That said, a little dry mouth here and there, but nothing extreme. Therefore, I believe that Zoloft is a great medication, especially for those with anxiety.

Hi! Forgot to mention in my Xanax comment that my pink pill is a generic. Very inexpensive that way. As for Zoloft, I had to quit after a week. I felt like I weighed a thousand pounds and could barely get out of bed. The day after I quit, I was back to normal. And so grateful to feel better that I wasn't even depressed! (Guess it worked in a way, huh?)
