Ziploc Zip and Steam bags are designed to use the microwave to "steam" foods with quick cooking and steaming for more nutritious and lower calorie meals. The bags come in two sizes, medium and large.

Product Description

A medium package of bags contains 10 bags per package. Each bag cooks two-three services per bag.

A large package contains 7 bags per package. Each bag cooks three to five servings.

Cost per package varies, but is approximately $3.00 per package.

Features:

Top of bag indicates "hold here" to reduce chances at burns when removing it from the microwave oven.

Patented Ziploc seal is used to seal the bag.

Indicators of ½ full and full bags

Timing instructions printed on each bag for vegetables, seafood, meats and poultry

Instructions for use in 800 watt and 1100 watt microwave ovens

Design: Similar to the zip lock bag, but with patented vents that steam food in the microwave cooking it thoroughly and evenly.

To Use:

Simply place meat, vegetables, spices and seasonings in one layer inside the bag. Zip it shut, and I like to give it a little shake to spread the spices throughout. Place the sealed bag in the microwave and cook for the number of minutes indicated on the bag.

Cooking times vary ranging from from 1 ½ minutes to 7 minutes depending on the vegetable and if they are fresh or frozen.

Cooking times for meats, seafood and poultry are from 1 ½ minutes to 8 minutes.

My Viewpoint:

The Zip and Steam Bag is the equivalent of "Healthy Microwave Cooking for Dummies."  Each package includes recipes if you have trouble coming up with some on your own. This product is wonderful.  It does exactly what it said it would do, in the amount of time stated.  The food was moist and flavorful, as well as healthier, since it is steamed.

Cooking is easy.  Throw it all into the bag; add seasonings, spices, butter, oil, vinegar whatever, and place in microwave.  Use the convenient chart on the front of the bag and push buttons.  In just a few minutes you get freshly steamed food, cooked thoroughly with seasonings throughout the dish.

Ziploc Zip and Steam beats out all the pots and pans I currently own.  No scrubbing, healthy food, and easy instructions.

I recently received a sample of this in the mail, but, haven't had the chance to use it yet! Can't wait to give it a try.

Gee, does this sound like a great idea or what? I have a bag of those little carrots in my crisper now that I bet would be great in here. You mentioned meat -- do you have to brown the meat first before steaming it. This sounds like it would be great for that silver dollar pot roast stuff, I like to use potatoes, carrots, onions, and mushrooms with that. I might check this out and thanks for a great review.

I'm a little wary about using plastic, so I'm sticking to my pots and pans for cooking. :)

These sound like a great idea. There's nothing worse than soggy green beans. :)

I have been wondering if or how well these bags worked. I have been tempted to poke a few holes in a regular ziplock but with my luck they would probably explode on me....lol ;) Ron
