On our way to a vacation in Maine two years ago, we stopped for the night in Jessup, Maryland, and visited historic Savage Mill in nearby Savage. There, we had dinner in the Ram's Head Pub, accompanied by a lager we'd never tried before: Yuengling. On the spot, it became far and away our favorite. — For the record, it's produced at the Yuengling Brewery in Pottsville, Pennsylvania -- the oldest brewery in America, founded in 1829. Yuengling also has a manufacturing plant in Tampa, but the products are distributed only over a 10-state area alolng the eastern seacoast. There are seven…

Since 1829, the Yuengling family has been brewing thier beer in Pottsville, PA. As I grew up there, I've been familiar with both the beer and the family my whole life. Yuengling Lager is a traditional German style amber lager. The taste is smooth and crisp with a hint of sweetness. This is a beer that tastes good even when warm. The best review I can give of Yuengling Lager comes from a time when I was managing a bar and had some guests from Belgium. They were complaining about the poor quality of American beers as compared to what they had in Europe. …

We first had Yuengling on a visit to Myrtle Beach, SC. Maybe it was the setting: an oceanfront oyster shack. Or maybe it was the oysters: on half-shell with lemon wedges, hot sauce and fresh horseradish. Or maybe it was the heat: about 95 degrees outside, but we drank Yuenglings for the first time and were hooked. Went home to Georgia and tried repeatedly at different locations to get it, but it is not available. One store owner said if he had a nickel for everytime someone asked for it, he could close the store and retire. We stock up when we go to Fla., S.C., N.C., or Tenn. Sure wish…

I actually don't like traveling too far outside the Delaware Valley because I can't get Yuengling! I have heard a rumor...it's now available in central Florida, but of course, that's only a rumor! Great taste and even better price--makes a great addition to any BBQ! I actually started drinking Yuengling again--otherwise, I…

I think one reason Yuengling has a reputation for being good is that it is not widely available outside of the East Coast, and its scarcity might add to the allure. On the East Coast, it is ubiquitous, and, while many see it as a reliable go-to beer, it is not something that is often sought out specifically. All in all, this is an average beer at best, and if you are not from the East, it is highly likely a local brewery near you produces something equally as good if not better. In fact, even if you are from the East (we could even whittle that down to just…

Been a wine drinker for many years. During a softball tournament in Phylli, PA was introduced to the local brewed Yuengling Lager. Love the taste, sweet not bitter, goes down smooth and can handle more than one or two. Went back to Florida and only found it in West Palm Beach until some years ago where I now find it locally in Miami, Fl. Have introduced many friends to this new taste with amazing good results. Read one of your reviews on a light Yuengling but have not seen it down in South Florida. Anyone know where in South Florida I can…

If you like the lager, you should really try their black and tan. Man o Man is that ever a good drink!! I grew up just south of the brewery and now am living in GA and for all the trying we just can't get them to deliver it here. The brewery is up and running in Florida and their customer service dept. keeps saying maybe in another 6 months. They want to keep the quality outstanding while keeping up with demand. Cross your fingers!! I am so thirsty for a cold black and tan off the…

Yuengling Traditional Lager is the smoothest brew I have ever tasted. Once I discovered it, you could not pay me to go back!!! Served icy cold it is smooth with no bitter after taste. I am so glad I discovered this beer. It reminds me of the best micro brews out there. —…
