I have always liked Adam Sandler. He has always made funny memorable movies.Of course when I saw the movie Don't Mess With the Zohan, I knew I was going to see it.
Adam Sandler stars as Zohan, a super powerful and seemingly indestructible Mossad agent whose specialty is taking out Palestinian terrorists. The war between his country and Palestine has been going on for over 20 years and there does not really seem any sign that it will end. Zohan is tired of the fighting, and dreams of coming to American to become a Hair Stylist for Paul Mitchell, his dream is to make people silky smooth. Since he is somewhat of a celebrity and lethal weapon in his country it is not such a good idea to follow his dreams, to make matters worse even his own parents laugh at him when he tells them he wants to be a hair stylist.
Zohan happens to have an arch nemesis by the name of The Phantom (John Turturro). When ever the two of them see each other they engage in battle. So Zohan goes looking for a fight with The Phantom and ends up convincing the Phantom that he has killed him. While the Phantom basks in the glory of killing the Zohan, Zohan sneaks on a plane and heads to America.
Zohan arrives in America and sets out to make his dreams come true, and is now going by the name of Scrappy Coco who claims to be from Australia. Scrappy finally ends up getting a job at a salon as a sweep up guy, but soon his dreams are more realized, and he becomes a quite sensation in a New York Community especially with the older ladies who he gives lots of special attention to, if you know what I mean.
Don't Mess with the Zohan started out a little darker and a little more violent than most of Sandlers movies, but even when it was being dark there were funny moments stuck in there. I was actually shocked at all the adult themed humor. Sandler usually keeps his movies pretty clean, and they are usually safe for the whole family to watch. I would not recommend that children watch this movie. There is a lot of sexual humor in it.
There are several cameos in the film such as Mariah Carrey, and John Macenrow, and of course Ron Schnieder has a small part in this movie. The bad guy in the film is that Boxing announcer that is famous for saying, "Let's Get Ready to Rumble."
I thought the movie was pretty funny. It had completely rediculas parts in it as most Sandler movies do. But over all in was entertaining. I don't think I will be adding it to the top of favorite Sandler movies, but it kept me entertained for the duration. I would give it 3 1/2 stars, but could not go as high as 4.
