I currently own two yorkies and I absolutely love these little guys. They're very loyal, smart, and they don't shed. They are great with my kids and my kids adore them. I must say that yorkies require dedicated owners. Since they are prone to various health problems, they need an owner who is willing to shell out money on vet bills. My older yorkie (he is 8) requires a special diet and is on lifelong medications. Of course, not all yorkies are destined to have health problems but I think that is something all potential owners should consider. All in all, I love my yorkies and can't see myself with...

I researced non shedding allergy frindly pets and Yorkies were on the list. The breeder where I purchased my first Yorkie suggested going with the larger puppy in the litter. I brought him home and named him Bubba. He had a fantastic personality, was super smart, and didn't bother our allergies. Bubba was phenominal with my kids and we all cried for days when he passed last summer at age 11. While Bubba was still living we purchased...

There are only two real drawbacks with the breed:
1) They are fragile. While they're pretty good with kids, you don't want them around anyone who wants to roughhouse with the dog.
2) To meet the AKC standard their ears are clipped and their tails are docked. If your dog is "just" a pet, don't bother putting the animal through the surgical...

As a house dog you would be hard pressed to find another as good. He loved everybody that he met. His biggest problem was he thought he was the size of a german Sheppard. One night he ran off the back porch after something and I could not stop him. I heard when the animal got him, what a terrible sound. I can only guess that it was a coyote, we hear them behind the house all the time. The next day in the light I found him....

If she wants up in my bed she will keep trying till I give up because she won't give up. She is very easy to keep her hair nice she is easy to clean. She loves to play too. I have two bigger dogs one english bull dog 40lbs and a swiss mountain dog 100lbs and she just plays with them like she is there size she has no fear of anything or anyone. I would recomend this dog breed to someone who has the time to spend with...

Mr. Rusty has been with me from the beginning; straight from the breeder to my loving home!
Although I haven't ever purchased the same breed twice (not necessarily because I've had any issues), but mostly out of respect to my former pet: I might rethink this choice.
Yorkies make wonderful pets, through and through.

Who wouldn't want a sweet, little, lovable, loyal dog? Well, after years of wanting a small dog, I finally got my tiny Yorkshire Terrier. "Lil' Miss Sweetie Marie" ie: "Sweetie", weighed 2 lbs the day we picked her up. At 6 months, she weighs 2 1/2 pounds. Finally, a small dog that has not outgrown the breeders expectations or revelations! I love Sweetie to death, but she is the most stubborn dog I have ever had when it comes house training. She does fine with "peeing", but, despite myriad trips outdoors, she is determined to "poop" on my medium brown, living room carpet. It's not that she...
