Yorkshire Terrier Dog Breed —

I love yorkies, I used to own a yorky named fraizer. This was the best dog I had ever owned. I have had dogs since I was little most stayed in the house with me.  As a house dog you would be hard pressed to find another as good.  He loved everybody that he met. His biggest problem was he thought he was the size of a german Sheppard.  One night he ran off the back porch after something and I could not stop him. I heard when the animal got him, what a terrible sound. I can only guess that it was a coyote, we hear them behind the house all the time. The next day in the light I found him. I never mourned so much over an animal. It has been 3 years this past October and I still miss him. He was 7 years old and I bought him as a pup.

Enough of the sad stuff. If you would like to find a good loving house dog a yorky is the best. (please don't use a puppy mill!!)  I always kept his hair long but after about 4 years of taking care of it I finally decided to take him to the groomer. He hated having that long hair brushed and I know that the tangles had to hurt. These dogs don't shed you just need to keep their hair trimmed if you want it short. A yorkies hair will grow and drag the ground when properly taken care of.  He was so cute when I picked him up and I swear he loved all that hair being gone. I also thought for some strange reason he could run faster. Maybe it was because he could see better.

So Sorry for your loss. Yes the Yorkies believe they are Bigger than Big! Have no fear and that can scare those of us that love them so.

I keep the hair about mid-length of their legs. It looks great, but must be combed daily. My husband prefers it much shorter. Both of mine came from loving local breeders and so far no health problems for us.

Need to stop my female from being a fence jumper.

Sorry I just now read your message. Thank you for the kind words! I do have good memories and pics. He was like a child of mine.

Keep your dog safe and watch him closely. If coyotes are in your area they are looking for something to eat, I bet on it.

I have a fear of my little Yorkie being eaten by a coyote. They roam the woods by our house and I know of neighbors who have seen their cats being taken by coyotes. I am sorry for the loss of your little dog. I hope you have many good memories and pictures to bring you many smiles.
