My favorite yoga teacher ever was a woman named Pat, and I was fortunate to attend her classes weekly in the months leading up to my wedding. In the last class before I had to leave for my wedding, Pat softly came up to me during savasana, the relaxation period at the end of class, and gently laid a silk herbal eye bag over my closed eyes as she whispered, "A little gift for your wedding, it will help with the stress."

She couldn't have been more right.

Almost five years later, I still have my silk herbal eye bag and I frequently use it during yoga sessions, and at home as well.

About the Silk Herbal Eye Bag
This isn't a brand named bag, so there are no "specification". Come on, it's yoga! The bag itself is about 4" x 8" and filled with flax seeds and herbs. The scent has long left the bag, but the flax seeds still provide gentle, soothing weight. The weight of the flax seeds causes the bag to sag inwardly onto the eyes, and the silk cover is soft and feels wonderful on my eyelids.

Uses for a Silk Herbal Eye Bag
Not only can this bag be used for relaxing yoga sessions, it's also perfect for sleepless nights or for daytime naps. Something about the gentle pressure from the bag on my eyelids makes it easier to relax and fall asleep. When I have a sinus headache or I don't feel well, I sometimes put the bag in the refrigerator for fifteen minutes to lightly chill it, and then rest with it on my eyes.

Care and Maintenance
The silk bag cover unzips for hand-washing. I wash the cover once or twice a year and then lay it flat to dry.

Cat's Bottom Line
Whether you practice yoga or not, a silk herbal eye bag is a useful tool to aid in relaxation. For under $15, I think it's a fantastic investment that will last for years. I highly recommend silk herbal eye bags to anyone looking for an aid to help ease stress.

I don't own one because I meditate sitting up but during Savasana in one of the Yoga classes I take Jayne puts a tissue (for sanitary reasons) over our eyes and then a scented eye bag and I love it. Once upon a time my daughter bought me one but I think it walked away during our last move. jo PS. The wonderful, wonderful thing about VP is not having to know how much this thing weighs!
