I never knew this stuff existed until I started adopting ferrets over 12 years ago.  Because ferrets are so small, regular dusty cat litter can be very harmful to them and their tiny respiratory systems.  Yesterday's News is recycled newspaper and is virtually dust free.  A big bag of this litter...

As someone who runs a cat rescue out of her home (and pocket), I've tried just about every cat litter product out there.  We have 12 cats/kittens here at the moment which means we go through over 50 pounds of litter each week.  With the holiday season approaching, I've been trying to cut back on expenses...

Yesterday's News Cat Litter is fantastic! I would never use anything else. It is non messy, good for the earth (green), absorbent and also comes in non-scented. We have nine cats and four litter boxs. We use it for every box. It is the ONLY litter ALL my cats will use. In addition, it's easy to clean and empty. It doesn't stick to the box. The only draw back is it's not sold at grocery stores. You must go to PetSmart or PetCo. I have found PetSmart has the better price and variety.

I have tried just about every cat litter out there and this is by far the best ever! I used to use the clumping litter but the cats tracked the tiny particles all of the house and they always smelled like the litter. They do not track this anywhere. They also no longer smell like litter. This does not have a smell to it but it absorbs all of the odors. It is made of recycled newspapers so it is environmentally friendly as well. I absolutely love it and would recommend it to any cat owner to try.

As a foster mom for up to 16 kittens at a time, I was concerned about the safety of using the standard clumping cat litter.  So, after a coupon for Yesterday's News fell out of the container of Purina kitten food, I figured I would try it.  It did say it was reccommended by veterinarians.  What a disappointment!!  The cats didn't know what to make of it (the pellets were too large and hard for little kitten feet), it did not absorb, the odors were terrible, and it was harder to "scoop" than either clay or clumping litter.  I still have half a sack of it left.

This is the only litter we use now for our two cats.  I love that it is does free and made from recycled materials.  The cats have no problem with it either.  The only downside is that the little pellets track outside the box and hurt when you step on them!  Aside from that this is a quality product that really absorbs and makes it incredibly easy to change the litter box.

Our vet told us to use this litter for the first week after having our kitten declawed.  It's really not 'litter'... more like little newspaper pellets.  Not really absorbing or anything really - it was more as a placeholder for the real litter while the cat's paws healed.

Love this litter the best i have used. Had to use it for a while after having my kitten spayed, loved it so much switched to it and havent looked back. Can toss it in compost and it will break down. Makes it to where my house never smells of litter. Love it

I decided to try Yesterday's News cat litter when I received a coupon to try it for free.  I love companies that are confident enough in their products to do this.  I had thought about purchasing it in the past, but the coupon totally made the difference for me in being willing to try it.  It bothers me that so many cat litters seem to be a bad choice for the environment, so the idea of a cat litter made from recycled newspaper really appealed to me.  The first thing I noticed that I really liked about Yesterday's News was that there was minimal dust when I poured it out of the bag.  The instructions...

I've been using Yesterday's News for two weeks now, and I have to say that I have mixed feelings about it.  I started using this particular litter on my veterinarian's suggestion, because I just had my cat Cool declawed and this litter won't irritate his sensitive paws.  Well, that part has worked out well and Cool had no problem adjusting to the change in litter, but I'm not completely in love with it.

In fact, in another week I'm switching back to my usual brand, Tidy Cat.  Although the Yesterday's News is much cleaner than regular litters (I don't have dust or little bits tracked all over...

This litter made me feel good about the environment, but my cat hated the new texture, it didn't do anything for odor or wetness, was not scoopable, and made for the grossest litter box we'd ever had.  This could be a good litter if you aren't a scooper and change your litter box often.  The packaging is also so small, you'd need to really buy in bulk for the amount you'd be changing the litter, since this kind you need to throw it all away, instead of just a scoop at a time.

The litter works well at containing odors and is great for cats that have allergy problems. My cat has skin irritations when I use regular litter so this works well. It comes in 2 forms - fresh scent and unscented. Both work well at containing the odors for about a week even with 2 cats in the house. Downside is the cost- you would think recylcled newspaper would be cheaper!

I use Yesterdays News, but also use it with Feline Pine as I find that there is very poor odor control with the product.  After just a day, the product begins to smell like urine soaked newspapers so that is why I combine it with Feline Pine and Fresh Step.

Good thing about Yesterdays News is that there is very little dust.
