Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic - 2007 Motorcycle —

Yamaha V-Star 650 Classic 2007

Spring and a young man's heart turns to lov -- motorcycles, of course!

The Yamaha V-Star is a dynamite motorcycle with enough power for freeway cruising and enough style to cruise the neon lit boulevards of your town.

This is the perfect bike for a rider who longs after a Fat Boy or a Road King but doesn't have the $18,000 to buy one. At $6,000, the V-Star 650 is a slam dunk for the guys who like the Harley look and styling yet have a more modest libido for conspicuous consumption. I mean it's a third of the price.

The V-Star is a big bike, which standing next to a Harley will provoke double takes of confusion from enthusiasts because it looks like one of the nicer looking members of the Harley family.

The V-Star has great styling with both ends sporting a large Dunlop tire and big cruiser style fenders. The forks are Harley lookalike with the skinny legs currently in fashion. The engine covers have been dunked in sparkling chrome and the proven SOHC V-Twin 650 cc (40 cid) powerplant has been refined with more responsive Mikuni carburetors for 2007. The chromed exhaust pipes and mufflers have been mounted shotgun style alongside the right hand side.

The V-Star is classified as a middleweight cruiser and it is the same size as a Big Twin Harley so the double takes are justified. Well done two-tone paint schemes adorn the tank, fenders and sidecovers and the soft tail frame is glossy black. Topping the drive train off is a shaft drive that smoothens out the ride and gives long trouble free performance. The gearbox is wide ratio five-speed and the response of the bike is great from sitting still up through freeway cruising.

The counterbalanced V-Twin engine makes vibration at low revs non-existent and the first time you'll feel a vibe is about 80 mph, so they have whipped that monster, and you shouldn't be driving that fast anyway. ;>

The V-Star has great fit and finish from the factory, great quality control, and rides as good as it looks. You will think it is 1000 cc from the throttle response.

This is your time! The V-Star is waiting!

I bought a black one in 99 as a starter bike and loved it so much I still have it. Never had a bit of problem with it. The wife was supposed to get that one when I upgraded, but that never happened so she bought an 01. GREAT BIKES!

Thanks George! I am like a kid at Christmas right now...I want to ride now, Monday is too far off...lol I got the passenger backrest today and found me a new helmet as well! (Blue of course...lol) I did get the Extended Warranty on it, that was a no brainer...I am covered for parts and labor for 5 years! It even covers normal maintenance for 3 years so that will save me a bundle there! ;)

Hey George....I stopped and looked, they had to mop the drool off the floor.......I BOUGHT ONE! Yep I got me a V Star 650 Classic, It is Galaxy Blue and I pick it up Monday afternoon. Need to get me a windshield, saddle bags, some different pipes and a drivers back rest. Didn't see a reason to finance the parts for 4 years so I will shop around and get them cheaper. I even have it insured already, just gotta wait til Monday to pick up the check from the bank and then go get my Bike!!! It looks SHARP! ;)

They are about the same size as the big Harley. There is not much difference in riding and the V Star is a lot more affordable. You just don't get the logo or the thumpity thumpity idle. ;>

I bet it is! I was surprised how much bigger a 650-V-Star looks compared to a VLX-600. It actually looks more like an 1100. I just found a custom 2004 650 V-Star for $4500, nice black background with soft red flames it has 11,000 miles on it. Looks real sharp! Still looking though ;)

They should be a much larger seller because of it. It's hard to tell the difference between them by looking. Superb quality control. Good performance. Thanks for stopping by Mark!

I had no idea the price difference between a real Harley and these Yamaha knock-offs was so large....thanks for the economics lesson!!
