Yamaha V-Star 650 is a good bike for the price tag that's associated with it. When I first looked into buying a new bike, I looked at all manufacturers. The one that really stood out as the best value was the Yamaha V-Star 650. For a couple thousand dollars more, you can buy a stripped down Harley Sporter, or you can save the money and get a bike that looks good out of the show room and spend the money personalizing it and end up with the bike you want, rather than a name on a gas tank.
I have the "Classic" with the raven paint & flames. I have stripped all the badges & decals off the bike and replaced the handlebars, grips, exhaust and have a few more tweeks that I want to add before my bike is truly mine and when I am finished, I will not have spent as much a buddy of mine, who helped me work on my bike and now wants to trade his harley in for one. People stop me frequently to ask me what kind of Harley I have!! With the popularity of import cruisers, after market parks have become readily available and without the expense of similar "only fits american made" parts.
I commute daily on interstate highways and have no issues with maintaining highway cruising speeds.
Overall, I am extremely pleased with my bike and would recommend it to anyone that's looking for a good bike with a great price tag and the endless potential to be whatever you want it to be!
