Xtra Laundry Detergent Review

This product in a nutshell: is an average clothing detergent that lacks any sort of extraordinary talents.  Yes, it gets my clothes clean and has a fresh scent, but that is only for lightly-soiled loads of laundry.  I have used this product as a pre-treater and also as a soak for badly-stained articles of clothing, and it only made the stain less visible; it did not completely remove it.

Laundry comprises a very large portion of my weekly chores, as I do 1-2 loads every day or every other day.  Since I use a lot of it, the cost of laundry detergent plays a HUGE factor of what I choose when shopping for cleaning products.  The low price of XTRA Laundry Detergent is definitely its most redeeming quality.  Armed with a coupon, I can often purchase a 2.14 Quart bottle of XTRA Laundry Detergent for around 2 bucks.  That's really cheap, considering that most of the major brands are $5-10!

XTRA Laundry Detergent comes in a few scents, but honestly, I cannot tell the difference between any of them.  None of them smell bad, I just don't smell a distinction between any of the varieties.  When I use this product on lightly-soiled loads, my clothes emerge clean and smelling fresh.  However, this detergent is substandard when it comes to heavy stain removal.  I am a sloppy eater and I find that other detergents remove food stains remove better than this one.  Even when I let this detergent set on tough stains overnight, they only lessen their appearance on my shirt or blue jeans.  For those types of stains, I feel the more expensive detergent brands do a better job. 

I give this product 3/5 stars because: I have to switch it out with a more expensive name brand when I'm dealing with hardcore stains.  However, it suits me just fine when I need to wash bed sheets, delicates, towels, or lightly-soiled loads.  It doesn't make colors fade and it's fine for my sensitive skin.
