Have you ever wondered what it's like to be a rock star? Becoming famous, dating hot models, and having to play in front of hundreds of thousands of adoring fans that hold up their lighters in unison because you rock the house down. Do you actually do it though? Hell No! The equipment is just too damn expensive and your parents would have freaked out if you played that so called devil music. Well, it's time to stop sitting on your a$$ and wondering what could have been because the pushers at EA have just what you need to get high off rock! Rock Band the game gives the ability to sing, guitar, and... review »

Rockband is a really fun game.  When I first heard about it, I figured it would be fun, but not for me.  My husband and I are both real-life musicians, so we thought the Guitar Hero games would be fun, turns out they were for him, but I just couldn't get the hang of them.  They were just too hard for me to enjoy.  I figured Rockband would end up the same way, fun for him, but I'd just get bored sitting around while he played.  Then I played the demo at the electronics store and was hooked immediately.  I just bought the whole system for myself.

The really cool additions that Rockband has...

Being familiar with Guitar Hero, the first thing I did was see if the controller worked so my husband and I could play together. Luckily enough, the Gibson X-Plorer worked just fine, so we created our band and went on a world tour together for a while.

Rock Band comes bundled with a Fender Stratocaster guitar controller, a drums set and a microphone, which means you can invite a couple of friends over for a little home-made "I can't play a real instrument for the life of me" concert. All you need is a little hand-eye coordination and someone with a bit of a voice, if you plan on having a singer....

I really enjoy this game!  We bought it for my son for Christmas (age 12), but we could only find the individual game disc, not the pack with all of the guitars, drums, etc.  When we went back to purchase at least a guitar, we were told they don't make them "yet"  but we could use a Guitar Hero guitar, though it wouldn't be exactly the same.  If we were to go back and purchase a full kit, we would be getting another disc, which we wouldn't need.  I think selling the pieces individually would be a good idea.

I know this sounds like a negative review, but the singing part of the game is just...

So we held off for quite a while.  My husband is already a total Guitar Hero freak, and this looked amazing, but the PS2 version just wasn't as cool, so it requried upgrading to a newer system.  We ended up upgrading to a Xbox 360, and this game has been amazing!  I was very pleased that on easy my 8 year old and my 5 year old can sing and not kill the song when the entire family plays.  The instruments are well set up, and even more sturdy than the Guitar hero instruments (has not only survived a year with my two older kids, but with my youngest, 18mth old, who loves to sing and play guitar!). ...

Pros: Taking the genre to a whole new level
Cons: A bit on the expensive side to truly play this game

"Please Note that I was able to play this game before the official release during a demo session.

Graphics - 9/10
For what the game is, you are not buying this game to play for the graphics - though EA and Harmonix was to put a lot stuff onto one screen, and it works well. The words and the activators are clear and bright.

Sound - 10/10
The track list for this game, along with the original recordings and downloadable content, is a must have. You will get lost in involvement when playing this game. This...

Trivial Pursuit used to be the ultimate party game.  Used to be.

Not everyone knows the capital of Azerbaijan.  Not everyone knows who won the Michigan primary in 1976.  And for the love of God, not everyone can answer a question from the literature category because the questions are so obscure.

But everyone loves music, and everyone wants to be a music star.

Rock Band delivers on this basic appeal and then some.  Just about anyone can pick up and play the game.  No musical skill required.  After you get used to it, playing with your friends and family and seeing them succeed (or fail) along...

I bought the Rock Band for XBOX 360 as a Christmas present for myself and my Fiance.  We have really enjoyed it, and the game as been muchly used.  The set up is super easy!  Also, with different difficult settings the game can be played by anybody- from the best to the tone deaf!  You can play solo, although its not as fun as rockin out with the band!  The game is for up to 4 players, (Singing, Drums and two guitars)  The guitars can each choose either Bass (which I find easier) and Guitar.  You can have any combination of the two.  Each player can choose their own difficulty in multiplayer. ... review »

This is one game with a hefty price tag that I actually shelled out for, after my boyfriend had sold ours. I love this game! Everyone from my younger siblings to the folks that I work for (people in their 50s and 60s, decidedly NOT gamers) get into and can succeed at this game. I love the ability to chose the difficulty level, and to add songs in by buying track packs. I have the Country track pack, my boyfriend bought the Metallica track pack, and I cannot wait to get the Beatles add on as well. I particularly enjoy playing vocals, but also enjoy doing vocals and guitar together, for an added...

I can't say enough good things about Rock Band. Finally a game for the Xbox 360 that the whole family can play. There are four of us who routinely play this game from 15 to 52 we all love it! I think my son's voice is actually improving (lol). We can all play together or each of us can play alone. We have trios and duos too.

Con: The hardware is sucky. Our guitar broke down almost immediately even though we weren't particularly hard on it. On the plus side we were able to get a replacement ordered quickly - still waiting on it though :(  Everything else has held up just fine....

ROCK BAND!!!  You gotta play.  There are drums, a guitar/bass and a mic.  Grab some friends and live your rock fantasies.  I too was sceptical of this game cause it wasnt playing real instruments.  But i played and LOVE it.  Its just a good time.  There is fun songs and once you get a few people playin you see everyone gets really into it.  Dont be afraid to sing... not having a good voice is not an excuse, not knowing the words is not an excuse.  It measures tone... i personally have a horrible voice, but i kick some butt on rock band cause i get the right tone.  The words are on the...

Okay, I don't play video games, see where this is going yet? I was reluctant to try any games, I mean any... My husband and kids told me I had to just TRY IT MOM??? Okay, well... I really liked it, then I really really liked it. Well, I can say that I am now a 40 year old rockin' Momma..lol.. It brings back old 80's memories with some of the great tunes of back in the day, mixed with some fun family time too!! My kids range from 7 to 13 and my Hubby a 40 something just LOVES it. We get more family time together laughing and playing Rock Band than we have had in a while. It is hard to get everyone...

This is I have to say the best family activity I have bought in years. I have a 13 and an 11 year old both girls. We play all the time. Husband on drums, kids on bass and guitar, and myself singing. The only thing we have had to replace is the drums. You will want to get some hot glue and strudy out the bass pedal. it breaks easy. We love doing things together but this is something we all love. We laugh at each other all the time. It also teaches cordination and other skills. Both of my girls now want to really learn to play the guitar. They have learned to love the music too. We have bought every... review »

Neat new video game that reaches a wide audience and age range.  The price for the game is pretty standard the only con to that is that you have to purchase the other instruments if you don' have a USB microphone or 360 headset.  I'm sure it could get it expensive to buy the guitar and drums, but it's all how deeply you get into it.  My husband and I have used it basically as a game to play with friends because it's like Karaoke but cooler.  We had a microhone from other interests so it hasn't cost us alot.  If my kid was old enough though I would consider buying the other instruments so... review »

This is good family fun for everyone. As a musician, I found the gameplay to be interesting and enjoyable. The whole family can play as there are three instruments that can be played at once with the bundle. The drum set is very enjoyable to play, and the vocal aspect of the game makes it easy enough for even the average singer to be able to complete levels with practice. The graphics are very satisfying as well, with close up shots of each member doing their thing. My only gripe would be the songs you get to start with. I would have enjoyed it much more if there would have been a greater...
