I had been waiting for this game for over a year when I first heard of it. I kept reading about it in Electronic Gaming Monthly, and once I got my Xbox 360, I had to have this the minute it came out. I played the previous game in the series, Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind, for literally hundreds of hours over the two years I had it. I knew that Oblivion would be just as good, if not better, and I was right for the most part. — The plot to the game is when the Emperor of Cyrodil and his family are unexpectedly assassinated, the throne is left empty. Foreseeing his fate, the Emperor had… read full review »

Get ready to hand in your life.  I've clocked more than 220 hours on this game, and maxed out my character long ago.  Oh, and I only decided to finish the main quest about 10 hours ago.  That's how much there is to do.  — — This is only my second RPG because first person usually makes me ill.  You can switch between 1st and 3rd in this game, so I gave it a shot, and I'm so glad I did.  There are what feels like infinite missions and quests, not even counting the downloadable ones.  I recommend not finishing the main plot right away if you want… read full review »

I've been playing the Elder Scrolls games since Daggerfall (Ok so Daggerfall isn't the best game in the world :P) it was just too big for it's own good, Morrowind improved greatly on Daggerfall and it had amazing graphics for its time, and yet, it was missing the immersiveness that you craved for.In comes Oblivion.... — — INTRO: — Oblivion's story in MY humble opinion is...Meh-ish it seems epic and grand when looked at in paper, but when you actually experience it, it just seems far less "awesome" than what it could have been =(....You could call it a… read full review »

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion is an excellent, initial RPG title for the Xbox 360 for those that enjoy the RPG genre.  This reminds me of an old Nintendo RPG called Dragon Warrior due to the free roaming style and dungeon crawling opportunities.  Oblivion is Dragon Warrior on steroids with 3-D graphics indicative of a next-gen console, active combat and additional quests that provide a sandbox style of game play. The story starts you out in the imperial dungeon as the Emperor flees a group of assassins and must escape through a hidden tunnel in your cell.  The time spent in… read full review »

Elder Scrolls 4, for the xbox 360 is a great game. It builds a foundation of the little things, which are done so well that they grow into big things. All of the unbelievable claims regarding the A.I., quality of presentation, technical power, and scale are delivered in full. — —   In Oblivion, you have so many normal things to experience -- so many of the little things that define a real person's day-to-day life -- that it's almost impossible not to be drawn into this world of khajiit thieves and daedric monsters. The quest areas aren't the defining features of Oblivion;… read full review »

Oblivion is amazing! If you are a fan or RPGs or open ended gameplay this is for you. The world is alive with the NPCs performing daily tasks and following a true day/night cycle. There are so many side quests and other things to do that I had logged 60 hours and had only done 2 tasks in the main questline. The graphics are great and the world is beautiful. Your levelling is done in a unique way as well...the more you do something the better you become at it. There are 10 main skills (which you pick) and the remaining skills become secondary skills. There are 100 levels of each skill and when… read full review »

I have played this game for 100 + hours and I am still not bored.  The main storyline is truely engrossing and the side quests lend to the "reality" of the game.  I have aslo downloaded all the extra content "for a price" via Xbox live and I have found most of them rewarding too.  —      I really enjoy reading and this game was like living in a book.  The vast world is covered in caves and ancient temples to explore and they often contain treasures.  The immense world enables players to explore varying reagions… read full review »

Ok, graphics, wow!  I literally stopped to look at some of the leaves on the plants in towns 'cuz there are actually veins on the leaves.  Gameplay-wise, this game has endless possibilities.  From what path you take to finish the game to the physical details of your character, the player has control over nearly everything.  I pretty much kicked the main objectives to the side and worked on side quests for hours and hours....and hours.  Dark Brotherhood!  When I say second life though, I mean it.  A massive map with a whole 'nother plane of existence… read full review »

First of all, I'd like to mention that I own this game for the 360.  I've heard that it's a thousand times better on the PC, but unfortunately my PC isn't even close to good enough to run the amazing graphics in this game. — I love everything about the game.  The quests are fun, although they tend to sometimes drag out for what seems like forever.  There are hundreds of weapons and armor to collect.  I've logged HUNDREDS of hours into this game, and still have yet to beat it.  Unfortunately, my little sister scratched my game up to the point of no… read full review »

The perfect game for when you have some free time. After moving, I had some down time between jobs, this completely filled void. I love characters that you have to build up as the game goes on and this game gives you such a vast enviroment, character sets, goal motivations, etc. that even when you finish the main story line, you still have a million more things to do, missions to complete, people to mess with, etc. to fully complete the game. (The game is as long as that run on sentence I just wrote!)  Play the game again with a different character and skill set to enjoy an entirely new… read full review »

The graphics are amazing, but even if this game were for Gameboy, it would be worth the buy.  The player can create what type of character he wants, as well as build the stats that he wants.  The storyline is amazing, and despite the game freezing occasionally, there is very little wrong with Oblivion.  Fans of The Elders Scrolls series will be suprised at how small the world is compared to that of Morrowind, but for those of you who are new to The Elders Scrolls, you will be amazed at how big it is.  This game dwarves Fable, and many other games of the sort.  I have… read full review »

as previously stated, oblivion has happily claimed many hours of my life. i have something like 95 hours into one character, and havent even started the main quest. the depth of game is massive, the thought that went into the background music and ambient sounds are mind boggling. as you walk around you hear NPCs (nonplayer characters) having mundane conversations about other people. i could go on and on about this game, but i wont waste time. in a nutshell, go out and get this game and you wont be… read full review »

This game is so addictive.  I already played a paper-and-dice RPG before picking up this game (my younger brother had it), but I was still skeptical about how fun it would be.  I have 3 different characters now (a mage, a thief, and a warrior) and am considering making a fourth (an assassin).  Unfortunately, as a college student I have no time to play anymore now that the semester has started back (because you need several hours at a… read full review »

Okay, not too many cons with this game.  I couldn't wait to get my hands on this game.  RPG's are my favorite to play and this game tops it off.  Hundreds of hours to play, a vast world to explore, character customization.  The only downfall is that the game freezes up a lot and if you do not know how to properly level up your character, you could be struggling with the battles throughout the game. —… read full review »

This game is every RPG person's fantasy and nightmare.  It has awesome graphics, hundreds of weapons, endlesss battles and encounters.  However it is a bit long , and it has glitches which freezes the game.  It does take a lot of memory.  If you can get past these problems, then this is the game for you.  I would highly recommend it.  I loved it very… read full review »
