Xbox 360 - BioShock Review Summary

Reviewers are unanimous that BioShock on the Xbox 360 console is an interesting game with "great graphics" and an "immersive story." Several even note that it is "one of the best looking games I have seen". BioShock is a first person game, where the player starts out as the victim of a plane crash, and works towards taking action against nefarious bad-guys in an underwater world. One reviewer noted that "not only are you immersed under the Pacific when you enter the first air tube, you will be immersed in one of the best games ever made." It's a single player game, which is one of the few things that players found working against BioShock on the Xbox 360, but setting that aside, reviewers of the game gave it a very high recommendation. Reviews and recommendations of other games on the Xbox 360 can be found here.

Twenty minutes on my first gaming session was more than enough to be taken in by the story. Actually, just the initial scene was enough.

Bioshock begins as your plane crashes into the ocean. As you swim to "safety" among fiery debris to what initially seems like a lighthouse, you find out it's a lot more than that. What you discover is called Rapture, a self-sufficient underwater city obviously inspired in the 40's and Art Deco elements, once a utopian dream, but now the grounds for the result of some genetic experiments gone seriously wrong.

Bioshock keeps you interested and on your toes, wondering...

Bioshock here may look unusual because it has this very weird story line attach to it but the game is so visually stunning and so well crafted that you just have to see this intense First Person Shooter for yourself.

The story is going to be hard to explain but I'll try my best. Many years ago in the early 1990's a man named Andrew Ryan (cool name by the way) created his own city underwater simply called Rapture where the citizens were free of religion and could practice any scientific theory they liked. It was supposed to be this fantastic new age world where humans would have all these amazing...

Bioshock is a unique game that takes place in a ruined 1960's world. This is something I'd NEVER expect to see in a game. The game is also like a horror movie; zombies, blood, ghosts. You name it, its there. The whole "Little sister, big daddy" is also a unique aspect of this game. I'd highly recommend this game to any FPS fan or major gamer in general, or to someone who wants to try something new. However, I think the game is played a lot better on the PC, as with any FPS style game.

From the mysterious beginning of the game, you are immersed in a story so deep and full of twists.  The game's story puts you in the perspective of a plane crash victim in the ocean.  You swim your way to a lighthouse which leads you to a submarine called a Bathosphere. Taking it down, you find yourself in giant underwater city called "Rapture".  You are contacted by a man through a radio, who asks you to do favors for him in order to get you out of this place.  The story deepens every step you get from here.

The graphics are very detailed, and special effects can be seen everywhere, from realistic...

Bioshock is the first game that I completed when I got my XBOX 360.  I had seen my boyfriend playing it on the computer and it looked like a lot of fun; plus I had other friends recommend it, so I knew I wanted to check it out.  This game is so much fun, the graphics are incredible, everything is so detailed and looks real.  Rapture (the city you're in) really comes to life, I got so involved!  It's so much fun, I had trouble putting the controller down.  I'm not very good at video games, although I love them, and I was able to play this game on my own without a strategy guide even.  You...

what can i say about bio shock? i thought that it was an awesome game. some of the levels were pretty difficult but i was able to make my way through the entire game at a realivitly fast pace. i still dont quite understand where they came up with the concept from. The big daddys to me were quite weird i didnt quite understand what the real purpose of them were. Why couldnt you just find the little sisters and be done with it. BUt for the most part i enjoyed the game and have played it several times at home during my spare time. I will continue to keep the game and play it again. I heard that they... review »

This is a completely and utterly awesome great game.  It has some of the most unique weapons for a first person shooter that I've ever played.  I am so excited about Bioshock 2.  This game is really great at telling a story while never leaving the first person point of view.  You don't need to.  The plasmids are really fun weapons and you can do all kinds of cool things.  The big daddies are really creepy the first time you see them and the little sisters give you a choice between 2 ways to play the game.  You can choose to harvest them or you can choose to save them.  I hear the better...

I won't bore you with a synopsis or specifics of the game since you can find that easily anywhere on the net.

The bottom line is that the game has a great immersive story line, the graphics and sound track are amazing and the gameplay is very intuitive. You can enjoy yourself just as much by just looking at the incredible backgrounds and listening to the eerie soundtrack as you're blasting away baddies. Granted it's a tad on the violent side which is great for us adult gamers, but not something for the kiddies.

In the end, it's a beautiful shooter worth the full price that has a high replayability....

Rapture is a city underwater to which you travel in Bioshock via the Xbox 360.  Not only are you immersed under the Pacific when you enter the first air tube, you will be immersed in one of the best games ever made.  The sound, graphics and mood are intertwined with such a pefect intesity here that you may never put the controller down.

I cannot recommend this enough.  You have the best first-person shooter here mixed with a made-for-Hollywood story.  Throw in a nagging fear that will keep you running to find out the truth before it is too late.

Bioshock for the Xbox 360 was amazing!  It definitely lived up to all the hype.  Not only were the graphics incredible, the story line was very captivating.  There is a wide plethora of weapons and "powers" available to the player, as well as shockingly real environments that are a great mix of science fiction and fantasy.  Semi-spoiler alert!  The only downside I really saw with Bioshock was a very anticlimatic last boss fight.  For being the ultimate enemy, Atlas went down way too easy.  Despite that, I still give the game a perfect score!

I think the game begins really well and it is visually impressive.  If you don't have the game set on the highest difficulty level it isn't challenging enough so put it up to the hardest level to be challenged and have more fun with it.  Gameplay is great and the environments are so realistic.  Pros:  graphics, gameplay (if put on the hardest difficulty setting) and the way it pulls you into the game world.  Cons:  too short, strange and difficult to understand storyline.

Bioshock not only came equip with amazing graphics- between the amazing water quality and vibrant yet disturbingly eerie colors- It also had amazing voice actors. Every Diary found was believable and well done. Throughout the game you are kept in suspense as to what your motives are. This game will never be played the same by any two people. There are too many possibilities for a great game play. That's why I recommend this game for any type of gamer- be it an xbox junkie or a newbie.

Bioshock succeeds in making this game worth your money with a great story, great graphics, and some replay value depending on what type of gamer you are. And believe me, this story is not short. For the PS3 owners who have never played this game before should definitely check this game out and the PS3 version includes extra content the Xbox 360 version does not have and it will include support for PS3 trophies. Excellent game.

Bioshock was an amazing game to play.  I've beaten twice now and just can't put it down.  If you are looking for a surreal experience with great ambience, this is the game to own.  The only downfall is perhaps the fact that there is no online play, but the story is so immersive that it makes up for that one shortfall.  BUY IT TODAY
