IMPORTANT NOTE: Before I begin this comparison, please know I am not a medical professional and I can't tell you what medications are right for you. This is just my own experience with both Xanax XR and regular Xanax and which worked best FOR ME. Please talk to your doctor about both options if you are advised to take this medication.

My name is Patty and I have a Panic Disorder

I have had anxiety since I was a very young child. I didn't know what was wrong but I knew something was. I starting having full-blown panic attacks as early as age five but really noticed them at around age 16. At one point,...

As a female adult with comorbid ADHD/anxiety, this has been the only medication that has been effective in eliminating anxiety attacks that have recently become more severe. I emphasize the AS NEEDED because this drug can be very addicting. I take 1 mg when I start feeling the physiological symptoms associated with anxiety attacks (i.e. cold sweat, increased heart rate, shaking, crying, etc). While I am aware that these feelings are "irrational,"...

My Doctor prescribed Xanax. For years I had been suffering from Anxieties. First time I had a episode was when my husband was in the hospital, a friend bought me coffee and a brownie. Since then it must of set it off, all the caffeine, waiting and worrying about the surgery. The doctor ahead of time said it would only last around 45 minutes, well the surgery took over twice as long. The doctor who was very good, explained to me afterwards why, I could actually understand him, he talked to me like a real person. Anyhow his appendix had been leaking, and the tip was gangrene. It had adhered to his...

The doctors around here are really picky about who they will prescribe such drugs like xanax or valiums. But it seems like the people who really need it, don't get it. I am one of those people. I have been trying to get on xanax for the past couple of years because of my severe anxiety and panic attacks but my doctors wont write me a script for it, so I am forced to go elsewhere for it. I don't abuse it, I don't take more than what I should, and I don't sell them. I take it because I genuwinely need it to function and go into stores. It helps calm me down when I have to go into a big store like...
