XM is a must for everyone with a daily drive! The selections and variety are terrific, the price is right, and you can get great deals on equipment!

My husband and I have had XM for about 4 years now, and I would get rid of my Direct TV before I gave up my satellite radio! Being able to easily switch between a number of channels that play my favorite music genre (alternative), talk channels (love that Air America!) and public radio programming has me spoiled.

Commercials run mainly on the talk and comedy stations. Some of them are fairly tasteless....think extremely late night infomercial. Of course they do self promote on all their stations...but they give you an idea of what's coming up, like specials and stuff.

Yes, some of the channels on XM do have commercials; usually these are the channels that also broadcast elsewhere. For example, political commentary channels like Air America, the tv channels like BBC, CNN, etc. The music channels have "fake" commercials promoting themselves, and sometimes promoting other shows on other channels. For example, the alternative rock channels are Fred, Ethel, and Lucy... Lucy may run a "commercial" that says, "If you know about a hot new stock that may double in the next 10 days, we want to hear from you! Please email ethel@mxrdio.com." and one that says, "We're just like Ethel, without the disturbing facial hair..." and the xm channel screen will say "Ethel is a Fred in drag!"

I'd heard that some satellite channels are becoming polluted with too many commercials. Do you find commercials on any XM stations??

I don't have XM, but it sounds like a great service.
