Worst Movies part 10. More movies that you should avoid seeing. There's thousands of movies that aren't very good that are better than any of these. Really. I suffered through these... perhaps so you would have to. If you want to name a park after me for my public service, that's very nice of you.. but really just click on the Helpful button if you enjoy reading this.
New Years Evil (1978)
One of the slew of bad films they made really, really fast to cash in on Halloween. Budding film producers said to themselves...ooh... slasher movies with holiday themes we can do that. A maniac kills one person an hour at a new years eve party and a disc jockey keeps tabs not realizing she is on his list. OOOOH.... Sub-par late 70's metal music makes it even more unbearable. No style, no suspense, a little gore... that's it.
Night of Dark Shadows (1971)
If you remember and liked t.v.'s Dark Shadows at all, you liked the character of Barnabas Collins. It would be inconceivable of anyone trying to make a Dark Shadows film without Collins... but they did. Awful. It was the follow-up to the very disappointing House of Dark Shadows which at least had Jonathan Frid as Barnabas in that one.
Night of the Zombies (1981) Director Joel M. Reed James Gillis, Ryan Hilliard, Samantha Grey.
I had read this film had porno stars trying to cross over to legitimate work (low budget horror films being legitimate to them) and lots of gratuitous gore. There's Jamie Gillis who isn't the worst actor in the world, and probably some others, but there isn't much gore at all, it seems they pretty much hang out in tents and talk about zombies. Awful. (Also called Night of the Zombies 2). It's directed by the same guy who gave us the terrible cult film; Blood Sucking Freaks. This one is worse.
Nightwing (1979) Director: Arthur Hiller
Starring: Nick Mancuso, David Warner, Kathryn Harrold, Stephen Macht, Strother Martin, Pat Corley
Arthur Hiller for some unknown reason directed this ridiculously stupid saga about possessed vampire bats attacking an Indian community in New Mexico. Okay it's based on a Martin Cruz Smith novel...but loosely. I can't think of a single reason why anyone would want to watch it. There was another terrible film about attacking vampire bats that was made in 1974 and was called Chosen Survivors. This one isn't any better. Hiller did even worse with An Alan Smithee Film aka BURN HOLLYWOOD BURN which I talked about another Part of this Worst Film Series.....
North (1994)
Director: Rob Reiner Starring: Elijah Wood, Jason Alexander, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bruce Willis, Jon Lovitz, Dan Aykroyd, Reba McEntire, John Ritter, Faith Ford, Abe Vigoda, Kathy Bates
Rob Reiner who had directed several critically acclaimed and commercially successful movies suddenly laid a hug egg with this awful cloyingly bad film. An 11 year old boy goes to court and wins the right to choose new parents. Many recognizable names do small cameos cast as prospective parents. It's lame, desperate and not funny. I don't know a single person who liked it.
Nothing But Trouble (1991) Director: Dan Aykroyd Starring: Chevy Chase, Dan Aykroyd, Demi Moore, John Candy, Taylor Negron, Bertila Damas
This was the directorial debut of Dan Aykroyd. He has a very strange and twisted sense of humor, but this one while being twisted and bizarre wants to be (I think) an elaborate send-up of something like Texas Chainsaw Massacre. A spoiled yuppie couple is caught speeding through a tiny town and they must face the judge who gives them a very weird sentence keeping them around. There's strange creatures and ridiculous mazes. It's extremely not funny and you keep wondering why- oh-why did anyone allow this one to be made? Uh Dan? This isn't funny or clever and its only slightly interesting because of how lacking it is in regards to any redeeming qualities that makes it worth watching. A film to torture your enemies by.
Penitentiary 2 (1982) Director: Jamaa Fanaka
Starring: Leon Issac Kennedy, Mr. T., Leif Erickson, Ernie Hudson, Glynn Turman, Dennis Lipscomb
Everyone was asleep at the wheel on this turkey. Idiots made this movie. It starts with the opening credits that tell us in a similar style to the Star Wars movies about the story of boxer Too Sweet (Leon Issac Kennedy). The credits scroll by so fast you can't read it and the quality is so poor it's almost impossible to read parts of it anyway. It's downhill from there. The music is so loud you sometimes can't hear the dialogue. That's not so bad you realize when you do get to hear the dialogue because it is terrible. Too Sweet hits a guy and then yells at him: "Don't make me have to hit you." Uh you just did and.. oh never mind turn the music up again.
It's a sequel to the modest 1979 hit. Sweet has just been released from prison and is training as a boxer. Mr. T is his trainer. It's a bad Rocky rip-off. The characters have names like Too Sweet, Half Dead (Ernie Hudson), Seldom Seen, etc. They should have included characters to describe the movie: Very Stupid and C.W. ( Completely Worthless).
