This is one of the best ideas anyone had for a children's educational show. My son started watching this on PBS and has converted us all into frequent watchers. Not only do I find the stories cute, but they help children get excited about reading and spelling.
My son knew his letters and their sounds by 2, so it was easy for him to understand how to put the words together. The characters sound out the sounds and then "build" the word. There is some repetition in the building and it is sing-song so that it is stimulating for the children to watch.
The characters are all made up of the letters in their names which has also helped my son remember how to spell words. Now they have toys that go along with the show and my boys have dog and duck and my three year old can spell several words from the show (hat, fly, dog, cat, duck, pie, to name a few).
The characters are entertaining, the stories are cute and fun, and the concpet is all about learning. Without certain letters, we can't make certain words! Each letter has an important role and this is just one of the meassages that the show reinforces.
