Because I am very particular about beer, I have been searching a long time for something that I can order at a pub.  I hate a lot of beer, and some I can only drink about half a glass of before getting tired of the flavor, this beer (technically cider), however, is awesome.   I am a big fan of ciders in general, they are almost sparkling juice meets beer, and Woodchuck's is probably my favorite.  It is apple-y but, at 5% alcohol, still retains its beer roots, making for a delicious drink that either gender can enjoy.  It is very easy to drink and goes well with food or alone.  It is actually refreshing, and if you aren't in to apple, the pear cider, believe it or not, is even better.  I highly recommend this product.

I'm very familiar with the World Beer Championship because I have been a beer evaluator for the Beverage Testing Institute here in Chicago where the WBC takes place. "World Beer Championship" is simply the title of this particular competition -it has no bearing on the products that are evaluated under that heading. BTI does not have a separate World Cider Championship (yet).
I have had Woodchuck along with many other commercial ciders and I have even made my own. I stand firmly by what I said about cider being closer to wine than beer simply because both are made from fruit. Beer is made from grain and there is no grain used in the making of cider.
Historically speaking, when the wine-loving Romans invaded Normandy on their way to Britain, they discovered the pleasures of apple cider; they even compared it favorably to the sparkling wines of the Champagne region.
And if you admit that I am "technically correct", why do you still argue the point?

Technically speaking, you're correct. But since Woodchuck's Cider competes in the WORLD BEER CHAMPIONSHIP tournament, obviously some people are considering it beer, because I think they do use some grain as well. (I could be wrong about that, but I don't think so). And if you've ever had Woodchucks, you'd realize it's not like wine at all, and is much more similar to beer.

I'm not sure where you got the idea that cider is in any way beer-related. It's not. Cider is made from apple juice and beer is made from grain (mostly barley and wheat). They don't share any "roots" either; there is no connection between them whatsoever. If you want to make comparisons, cider is actually closer to wine because it's fruit-based.
