The Knife Set

There are four stainless steel knives included with this set. Blade sizes are 3 inch, 5 inch, 7 inch and 9 inch. Each knife has an attractive and very sturdy black resin handle with 3 stainless steel rivets. The blades are cleaver shaped and have stick resistant dimples. Adding to the beauty is Wolfgang Puck's signature in black on each blade.

My Experience

I am very impressed with the sharpness of the blades. Extra caution really should be used. As always, keep the set away from little hands! Theses knives slice a tomato easily without a mess and also slice through raw meat with one or two passes. The weight of the knives is enough that you can get a firm grip and a clean cut but not too heavy that your hand hurts after prolonged use.

I have had this set for a year and find myself reaching for one of the knives whenever I cook. I have many others but this set does the job for all my needs - from simple chopping to heavy duty "sawing" of meats and other tough foods. I can even cut through frozen food with relative ease! I have used these knives for a year on a regular basis and have not had the need to sharpen the blades. They have held their sharpness but are beginning to dull slightly. According to the information provided in the packaging, these knives can be sharpened with any standard knife sharpener.

Unfortunately, because these knives are stainless steel, they are hand wash only and do tend to rust if not dried immediately. Mine did discolor and rust somewhat but, before exploring the options of my five year limited warranty, I attempted to clean them with some household stainless steel cleaner I had. I am pleased to say that the knives sparkle like new and with minimal effort.

I have only had one incident of rusting in the year that I owned this set and find it to be a very minor problem that doesn't take away from the quality of these knives.

Pricing

My set was purchased for me as a gift at Sam's Club, which is a wholesale warehouse store, for $19.94 but the set can also be purchased online at HSN.com for $39.99 plus $5.95 shipping and handling. I am sure the set is available at other outlets and prices vary according to the retailer. Definitely comparison shop for the best deal!

I really enjoy my set and give this product a 4 star rating.

as for your con stating that the knives are hand wash only, all knives are hand wash only. bumping around in a dishwasher ruins knife handles and knicks the blades.
