It is a well known fact that I am a lover of unique kitchen gadgets so for Easter, my sister-in-law surprised me with a Wolfgang Puck Bistro Pepper Mill.  Ahh, unique indeed!

The Peppermill

This battery-operated, cylinder shaped, peppermill is made of Stainless Steel and glass and stands 8 inches tall. There is a button on the top of the peppermill that is to be pushed in order the grinder to work. Further down is Wolfgang Puck's name and Bistro collection in a stylish black writing. Just below the writing is the glass spice container. There is a black cover at the very bottom that must be removed prior to using each time. Underneath the cover is a knob to adjust your preferred grinding settings.

The Wolfgang Puck Bistro Pepper Mill takes 4 ‘AA' batteries which are not included. There is a 1-year limited warranty on this product. The Peppermill can be found online for $19.99 plus shipping. Mine was a gift but was purchased through HSN.

My Experience

The first thing I did when getting this peppermill home was open the top cover by turning it to the right and then loaded four double A batteries. There are the normal plus and minus codes to let you know which way to insert the batteries but as I found out, for some reason, when the batteries are inserted the way it says to, the peppermill doesn't work. I had to play with the insertions of the batteries before the gadget would work.

Once I got the batteries in correctly, I opened the body to the left as per the arrows marked on the cylinder and added my coarse salt. As I mentioned earlier, peppercorns can also be used. The instructions recommend that the base container be filled up to no more than 80% capacity for smooth functioning.

I then adjusted the grinding settings and was ready to use my peppermill. I tested the settings by pushing down the button at the top to dispense the salt and found it necessary to make one or two adjustments to get to the grinding setting that I wanted.

The instructions state that the Wolfgang Puck Bistro Pepper Mill must not come in contact with water so I just wipe mine down with a soft cloth. Regardless of the number of times my peppermill has been used, the outside stays fairly clean.

Final Thoughts

This stainless steel peppermill is a very stylish gadget to have in my kitchen and on my tabletop. My guests have been just as intrigued by this battery-operated peppermill as I was when I first saw it. I have not had any problems with it and am hoping to get a matching one to use for my peppercorn. I really like this product and the only negative aspects to it are the number of batteries that need to be used and the fact that they need to be placed differently than directed in order to get the product to work.

I would recommend this product and give this product a 4 star rating.
