I have had good luck with most of the Wolfgang Puck products I own but not such great luck with others. Fortunately, this stainless steel mixing bowl set is versatile, durable, and is much higher quality then any plastic set I have owned.

The Mixing Bowl Set

These bowls are lightweight yet sturdy enough to not move around while mixing. The insides of the bowls are imprinted with convenient measuring units in quarts to help make your mixing easy.

This three-piece stainless steel mixing bowl set by Wolfgang Puck Bistro Includes a 1 1/2 quart bowl, a 3 quart bowl, and a 5 quart bowl. According to the manufacturer, the features that these bowls include 18/10 stainless steel, dishwasher safe, and a manufacturer's lifetime limited warranty.

My Experience

I have been using this set since May of 2005 for all my mixing needs. They are lightweight and stackable and I love that there are three different sizes. I have used the smallest size to scramble eggs and for other smaller cooking tasks and have used the larger sizes both for mixing and serving things like salad, pasta, and popcorn.

I use rubber or plastic utensils or a metal whisk and the insides of the bowls have not attained any scratches yet. I am not gentle with these, either when using or washing them, but they haven't dented even after my sons used them as makeshift drums.

They clean up easily in the dishwasher but I usually choose to hand wash them because they tend to spot when cleaned in the dishwasher. They often only need a quick clean and rinse anyway.
They don't rust even when sitting in water for a length of time and they have kept their sheen after many, many uses.

One thing I don't like is that these bowls don't come with covers. I know they are specially meant for mixing, but the larger sizes would make good storage bowls as well. I find myself using plastic wrap or aluminum foil over the tops which isn't the best way to keep things fresh.

The stainless steel keeps hot things hot and cold things cold longer than glass or plastic which is why I like to use the bowls as serving bowls.

I find myself reaching for these bowls when I have parties or I'm serving one pan dishes. They can't break if dropped and, with two feisty boys ages six and nine, that is always a possibility. They also look classy on the table.

If they only had tops, they would be perfect versatile mixing, serving, and storing bowls. As it is, they are now perfect mixing and serving bowls that require very little care and seem almost indestructible.

These bowls are available on HSN.com where a large range of Wolfgang Puck products are sold as well as a few other offline and online outlets. They're pricey at about $30.00 per set but they'll last ages and won't need replacing like cheaper sets.

Final Thoughts

The Wolfgang Puck Bistro 3-piece Stainless Steel Mixing Bowl Set 858-743 is another high quality product from the famous chef's collection. I am not a chef or even a huge cooking enthusiast but, when I do cook, I like to use versatile, high quality products. These fit that bill easily.

They are sturdy yet lightweight, easy to care for, versatile, and practically indestructible. For all these reasons, I give these bowls 4 stars. I would go with 5 but I am still pouting over the fact that they don't have covers.
