I purchased an HP Pavillion 4 GB Intel computer with Windows Vista Home OS about 6 months ago. I was hesistant to get Windows Vista after the negative thigs I had heard, but my son had Vista on his laptop and was Ok with it.  I wanted a good amount of memory, 4 GB, and where I purchased you could only get 1 GB with Windows XP, and if you wanted more memory you had to get Vista.

Anyway, after 2 weeks or so I have had intermittent crashes, lock ups, and it is hard to be happy with a problematic operating system. For a while, it was happening about once a day. I do Windows update, and things...

I bought a new computer with Windows Vista. Like a dummy I thought it would be like XP only better. Man was I wrong. It was nothing like it. I like to click on e-mails and do surveys over the internet and I could not get the web pages to stay maximized and I could not read the e-mails the fonts were so small. I tried everything to correct this till I finally gave up. I even tried installing XP over it but that did not work. I know there is a way to partition your hard drive to accept this, but I am just a home computer user and know nothing about how to do this, I ended up returning the computer.... review »

Windows Vista Home Premium runs fine if you have at least 3 gigs of memory installed. I have 4 on my laptop. With only 2 gigs, might as well use your puter for a brick.

In general, I have not had the problems that others describe, but I also haven't seen anything much improved over XP.
