Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner —

I finally decided it was time to clean my huge picture windows on the corner of my house, which is a chore that I tend to dread. I usually have to drag out the ladder, paper towels, and window cleaner to clean the outside of the windows, but this product advertises that I could just assemble the product, wet the window with a garden hose, wipe clean and rinse with the hose again. Hmmmm....... Sounded good to me.

Assembly:

  • The Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner comes with five rods that are smaller at one end and larger at the other.
  • The rods contained arrows to assist with alignment and they each clicked in quickly and easily for me.
  • I do not believe that this rod will disassemble, so that is a bit of a drawback if you are looking for a product that will fit in a small storage area
  • It seemed to be quite sturdy, and I gave the rod a real workout as you can see below.

Washing Windows:

We had a few problems trying to get the windows wet because our two sprayers for the garden hose both had sprung major leaks since last season. I had mentioned that to my husband, but I'm not sure that he believed me or perhaps was not listening. I decided this would be the perfect time to clean the inside of the windows because this product is not designed to clean the inside of the windows. After the outside of the windows and my husband had a shower, I decided to see how well the Windex Outdoor All-in-One Window Cleaner cleans the outside of the windows and discovered the following:

  • cuts down on preparation time
  • works well for the dust and slight to moderate dirt on the windows
  • reduces the time involved with washing the windows
  • seems to dry well without streaking, but the siding around the window was dirty and any bugs that had found an untimely death upon the window glass were not coming off
  • streaks later appeared from getting the siding above the window wet as I cleaned the siding with a rag.
  • I ended up cleaning the window with paper towels and window cleaner at this point

As most of my cleaning projects tend to become much larger than originally planned, this one was no exception as I noticed around the corner that the siding on the other side of the chimney looked absolutely disgraceful and started cleaning with Greased LIghtening and a rag. I realized that could not reach the upper parts of the siding and figured it might be unwise to ask my husband, whom I had recently put to work washing siding on the front porch.

Unlabeled Use for Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner:

  • VERY helpful in cleaning vinyl siding (wetting the siding before and after with the garden hose)
  • reached areas of the siding that I could never have reached because the yard slopes right where I needed to place the ladder
  • fit behind wires and tanks and right under the upper edge of the siding (see picture)
  • greatly reduced cleaning time

Would I buy this product?

  • perhaps--but for cleaning outdoor vinyl siding and not for my windows because most of my windows tilt in and I ended up cleaning the windows with paper towels and window cleaner after cleaning with WindexTM Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner
  • perhaps not with a starter kit costing about $14.99 (advertised as able to clean 20 standard windows) and a 2-pad refill pack at $4.99

Room for Improvement:

  • It would be great if the handle would fold for easier storage (but I'd rather have it like this if folding would cause it to be flimsy or if it would try to fold while cleaning).
  • I'm not sure what would need to be changed to enable this product to clean tougher grime and things such as dead bugs.
  • I would like to see this a bit more environmentally friendly. If they had a washable pad that you could spray a cleaner on, I think I would like Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner a lot better--that would help on the cost as well.

Note: I did receive a free sample of this product in exchange for posting my opinion of it here on Viewpoints.

My Viewpoint:

I found the Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner to be quite helpful in cleaning my vinyl siding. It helped me to reach places that I never could have reached alone and helped the job to become a lot safer and faster

As an outdoor window cleaner, I found the Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner to be pretty limited for me because it did not clean the dead bugs off my window and I ended up cleaning the window again by hand. I think the Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner could be great for cleaning outdoor windows that are dusty or mildly dirty.

NOTE: the reviewer indicated that they received a sample of Windex Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner

At my age I find it very difficult to reach all parts of my windows and clean them completely. This product looks like I may finally be able to do just that.

I am sick of snow after the first snowfall in October. (Sometimes September!). Winter lasts forever here. There is some sun out today and I almost see some green on the ground. Whoo hoo!

My goodness--I bet you're tired of the snow. We had two small dustings, one ice storm, and one fairly decent snow this winter. I'm ready for Spring but we just had a freeze about two nights ago. I bet you're really ready for warmer weather!

It's STILL snowing here tonight. At this rate, spring will be here in July!

Snowing???? Ugh. We've had quite a few days in the 70's but now they're calling for a low of 31 later this week. I'm glad I got motivated to wash the windows (and siding!) when I did. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Love the pics! It's been snowing here so I can't use mine yet. It was snowing, raining, and hailing all at once this weekend. Good review!

Sounds like a great idea to help out someone who could use a hand. We've had LOTS of rain here in the last few days, so it's great to be able to get outside for a while. I spent about 4 1/2 hours weeding the flower beds yesterday and I'm still not done. At least we do have some clean windows and siding on the front!

Sounds like you and I both had busy days. I spent the day helping some friends clean a house for an AIDS patient. Don't you just love that Greased Lightening? When I was using it today I made a mental note to review it!
