Like the old cliche, "I don't do windows." I sincerely don't. My parents used to make a huge process of cleaning the windows inside and out twice a year in the spring and in the fall as the storm windows would go in and out. My husband and I do it once in a awhile and much less than we should. It doesn't help that the kids are continually breaking screens to make the process more difficult. With the release of the new Windex product Outdoor All-In-One Window Cleaner, I thought, "What have I got to lose?"
The Window Cleaner had some quick easy assembly, or at least it would have been, had I not been the type to continually try to put a square peg into a round hole. You only need to assemble the pole, then attach a cleaning pad. I had thought these cleaning pads would work like Windex and not need to be rinsed or wetted down, and I could just move about the outside of my house cleaning windows. Yet the windows do need to be rinsed down first, so that when the special pad hits the window, it gets activated, and then it needs to be rinsed again to get rid of the suds.
That was a somewhat of a pain to get the hose out and carry that around with the window cleaning tool, but I suppose it's better than the alternative of toting around a bucket full of water. I made it into a two-person job, having my son tote the hose around while I washed the windows. It got done very quickly, so much faster than the old fashioned way, and even if I done it all on my own, both the hose and the cleaning tool, it would have still been faster. The nozzle on our hose is broken and it doesn't shut off unless I do it at the spiggot, so it could have been a mess to do it on my own. Truth be told, though, it still was, as my son couldn't resist the temptation to"accidentally" get me with the water a few times.
I also tried using it on my van, and it appeared to work well, (as my son then couldn't resist singing Car Wash), but after it dried, it left water marks on my windshield. My windows on my house look nice and clean, though, and it's never been easier to wash windows. Sure, it was a bit of pain to carry the hose around, but overall, it was easier than the old-fashioned way, and I will now be making sure the windows get attended to much more often.
