Quick View: I was disappointed in these wipes. They're convenient but leave streaks everywhere. I didn't like the container they came in either. It's back to the spray for me!

About SC Johnson Windex Original Glass and Surface Wipes

These 7"x8" wipes come in either a pouch of a canister. I bought the canister which has 28 wipes in it. The canister has a threading device for the wipes to go through but is wide open, exposing the wipes to air every time one goes to take one out. The last eight wipes in my canister dried out.

The small is strongly of, well, Windex. Very strongly. The wipes are just moist but not not wet. When I used them, I tried them several times in my bathroom mirrors (The medicine cabinet one and the full length door one) and both mirrors were streaked and foggy when I finished cleaning them. I had to use a soft cloth and basically buff out the streaks.

On windows, I got the same streaky, foggy results. On other surfaces, such as the bathroom sink, the wipes worked OK but certainly not better than anything else I have used.

In all, I think Windex Glass and Surface Wipes are a bust. I used the wipes I had, tossed the dried ones out, and will not buy anymore of these whether they are in the canister or the pouch. It's cheaper -  and really not much harder - to use spray and the results are much better. The scent alone was enough to make me hesitate before repurchasing even if the wipes had worked well.

My Viewpoint

Windex Original Glass and Surface Wipes are convenient for quick mirror, window, and surface clean up but they smell very strongly, leave streaks behind, and tend to dry out before they're used. I give them 2 stars. I'm being generous.

Hmm...coffee filters and air freshener for cleaning mirrors and windows. We need to write a VP hints book. I'll have to do the "make your own beauty supplies" part though. Domestic I am not! lol.

wiping down with clean, unused coffee filters work well to clean glass...I am taking your air freshener idea and putting it to work with my java filters.
I had the same issues Patty. I washed their towels after they dried out and reused them to clean other stuff with my cleaner :)

That is very neat. I'm going to try that. Never heard of that tip!

I also had the problem with them streaking and drying out too! I learned a hint from Ask Heloise: You can kill two birds with one stone. Take a can of air freshener and spray it on your mirrors. Use a papertowel or lint-free rag to clean it. Not only will it clean the mirrors and provide a streak free surface but you have also freshened the air! I do it all the time. I use the Glade air fresheners and wha la! Clean mirrors and nice smelling bathrooms, bedrooms and hallways.

Bummer! I was going to buy these. The dog puts his nose on every window in the house!

It is a definite thumbs down. I can't really understand why it streaks so badly.

I bet that is it. My mirrors look like they have a film on them and I have to rub it off with a soft cloth. Hate the wipes!

I wonder if this is why the inside of my car windows are so fogged up??? I bought these things just to keep in the car, and I used them a few times before throwing them away. My windshield always has a "film" on the inside. Now I'm wondering if these things are the culprit!

Ha! Too bad the product is not as good as the review!
