"Mother," my daughter says a few days after Christmas, "would you like to know what your grandson is doing with the tennis racquet?"

I cringe.  I have a feeling I'm in trouble again.

"He's running around the house with it and swatting everything in sight; his breakfast bowl, my candles, his stuffed toys...even his dad's head!"

I smile.  I knew that he would have a lot of fun, even though he'll drive his parents crazy all winter.  It sounds like the SpongeBob Squarepants Tennis Racquet is a big hit with my almost-3-year-old bundle of energy.

Like most toddler boys, my grandson is a fan of any game that involves a ball.

He is mesmerized by baseball, thrilled by basketball, in awe of hockey, and excited by tennis.  Actually, I am the one who introduced him to tennis.  Not on a tennis court, but by turning on the television to watch Venus Williams play a match.  Ever since then, he's been a fan. He never roots for any one player; he lets out a whoop and a cheer no matter who makes the point.  Since he enjoys the game so much, I decided to see if I could find a tennis racquet suitable for a toddler.

The SpongeBob racquet is produced by Wilson--the preeminent manufacturer of professional tennis equipment.  Specially designed for youngsters under 3'10" in height, the 19-inch racquet is made of lightweight titanium alloy and is perfectly sized and constructed to fit small hands.  The racquet cost a little over 10 bucks.  I also purchased the coordinating SpongeBob tennis balls 2-pack for about $3.  The racquet is colorful and sturdy, and my grandson enjoys swinging at the bright yellow SpongeBob balls.   I can't wait until winter is over and he has a chance to really practice his swing outdoors.

Until then, I hope he doesn't break a vase...

This review just cracked me up. I was thinking drum set for Jayden when he gets older, but this could be fun too :)
It will get me out to use my racquet too...I hope

Sounds like my grandson we call him "Superman" He will smack, throw, kick or otherwise abuse his toys fighting bad guys. He even dives off tables, lands and then laughs. I played it safe this Christmas and sent Gift Cards for the grandkids...That way I am not too blame for the toys they got...lol Ron
