Limited Purpose Web Site
If you're trying to remember the name of Bon Jovi's biggest hit in 1991....or whatever happened to American Idol contestant Elliott Yamin.....or what year Hurricane Charlie hit.......FINE.  Go to Wikipedia.  Relieve yourself of the burden of not remembering little trivia that is driving you crazy.   Someone like yourself will have posted that information, and you can jog your memory.

But don't get in the habit of going to Wikipedia as a serious reference web site.  Each listing is compiled and edited by a conglomeration of people whose qualifications are not known to us.  The public contributes the information for each listing on the site.   So while there will be LOTS that is correct, there will be some misleading information presented, too.  You won't know which is which.   There's also a lot of good stuff missing.

Link Snafu
As I write this, on the page for "Sanibel Island," a lovely vacation destination in southwest Florida, there are only 3 external links given.  Only one is commercial.  Click it and you'll go to "Sanibel Harbour Resort," a lovely four-star resort........that's not on Sanibel.  So the links are not always the best, either.   Just take it all with a grain of salt, and double-check your "facts" before making any big decisions, or committing to anything.

The Bottom Line:  Libby Likes It, but Libby's Leery

Your point is well taken. However, a cursory surfing of Wikipedia hardly entails a review. The site is like any reference section of a major library. Some of the books are quite excellent - while others are questionable.

I would not recommend Wikipedia for finding a place to stay on Sanibel or anywhere else for that matter. I have done research there in a number of given areas where it proved to be a very useful resource.

People write everything. I think you may have underestimated Wikipedia and perhaps the intelligence of people in general. Never believe anything you read(hear) and only half of what you see.

Yep... useful resource but don't trust it completely and never ever rely on the information as 100 percent factual. Find alternate sources yourself to verify info.
