i admit, i'm overweight. according to wii fit - obese. and i struggle with finding time to get to the gym. so i've been waiting for the wii fit to come out - and now that it has, i'm addicted. not only are the games fun, there is a visual reminder of how well you've been doing (or slacking off) - as you get a stamp each day you complete the "body test". you also "bank" the time you've spent, so as you accumulate more time, you unlock new games and exercises.

there are a few fitness modes to choose from: yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance. yoga makes a good warmup, but i wouldn't choose it if you're looking for a relaxing yoga session. you only do one pose at a time, and it's akward to do them on the wii fit board, so some of the relaxing/tension relief aspects are lost in translation. the strength training is great, although at the beginning, most of the unlocked exercises are for the lower body. so far i have unlocked three games (and their variations) in aerobics - hula hoop, step aerobics, and running. all of them had me working up a sweat after only 3-5 minutes. embarassing, but fun. :)

the balance games are the most "out there" - as in, you have to use your imagination more. head butting soccer balls, walking across a tightrope, and sliding across ice as a penguin? i'm not sure what these exercises are helping, but they're also the most fun.

oh yeah, almost forgot. the background players in all of the games are taken from the people in your mii gallery. we have downloaded miis that look like celebrities, so it's fun to see chuck norris throwing a soccer ball or the Burger King holding a hula hoop.
