Wicked Review Summary

The only thing "wicked" about the musical Wicked is the spell that it casts over the audience. This family friendly, touching story not only catches you up in the plot and drama but entertains you with the acting and music. If you love The Wizard of Oz, you will really enjoy seeing and hearing the story behind the wicked witches of the west as well as the good witch Glenda, long before Dorothy arrives. Jennieic says, "The show was one of the most amazing theatre experiences I've ever had." VaBookworm87 says, "The music is powerful, and the story is interesting." Loveisjoy sums up the performance and the reviews with, "it was a delightful two-hour romp through the land of Oz." Not sure what other live entertainment your family will enjoy? Let our reviewers help you follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City of entertainment.

Broadway in Chicago has brought the wildly popular show - Wicked - to the Oriental Theatre in the Windy City.  Actually, the show has already played in Chicago for the better part of two years already, but my hubby and I just had an opportunity to catch it.  I have to say, it was a delightful two-hour romp through the land of Oz.

The show that we saw featured Erin Mackey as Glinda the Good Witch and Dee Roscioli as Elphaba (better known as the Wicked Witch of the West).  The story recounts the lives of Glinda and Elphaba before Dorothy and Toto (and their house) landed in Oz.   However, the...

I went to see this show on Broadway as a splurge.  It was a lot of fun... but, it has not turned out to be one of my favorite musicals.  I thought the acting and singing were great.  The sets and staging were hands-down the best I have ever seen on stage, anywhere.  They were incredible!  The music, however, was just not very exciting.  Usually, after I see a musical, I run home, download the soundtrack and listen to it for weeks to come.  With Wicked, I ended up buying two songs, but that's all.  The rest of the music was just not very memorable or enjoyable for me.  The plot of the show... review »

If seeing Wicked had been the only thing I had been able to do in Chicago, it would have been worth the trip.  Everyone I encountered at the Oriental Theatre was professional and nice.  The show was one of the most amazing theatre experiences I've ever had.  The lead performers - Dee Roscioli as Elphaba, Erin Mackey as Glinda and Derrick Williams as Fiyero - had the most exceptional voices I have ever heard.  They portrayed their characters perfectly.  Dee's performance of Defying Gravity gave me goosebumps.  If you are spending any time in Chicago, make seeing this show a priority.  Alan...

Wicked is an excellent play. The play writer in my opinion is very smart to tell the story of how the wicked witch and the good witch met when they were younger. All of the characters were excellent actors and actresses and at the end of the play everyone was standing up clapping for the crew at bows.

Dang straight nobody mourns it... because that show is AMAZING!!! I went with my mom and dad to the preview of Broadway's Wicked, which officially opened the following night. I had been listening to the soundtrack to the musical for a couple of weeks because I'm one of those inept people who can never understand the lyrics of a song the first go through... I had heard of the book, and knew a bit about the story. The taglines are, "The untold story of the Witches of Oz" and "So much happened before Dorothy dropped in." The music is powerful, and the story is interesting... I figured for my...

Wicked was amazing. I know all the words to all the songs since i listen to them every day!! :)

Wicked is for everyone, it's funny, touching, and really makes you think about how some bad people are bad because they were treated unfairly. The songs were just amazing, and I didn't see Idina Menzel in the theater, but I wish I did because she is said to be the greatest. Wicked the movie is gonna be made soon, and once it comes out I'm never going to stop watching it.

This musical is so inspirational--it really encouraged me when I was struggling with college. It is so uplifting, and the energy is AMAZING. The music is beautiful and the actors did a great job...the show tours across America, so be sure to go watch it!
Don't take a child under 6: it does have some scary parts with the witch, bats, monkeys, etc..so take kids with caution..

From the moment I first heard Wicked, I knew I was going to love it.  The music, by Stephen Schwartz, is beautiful and haunting, and completely fun and addictive.  The songs have a way of getting stuck in your head for a loong time.  I have seen this show twice...once on Broadway and once with a touring cast in Atlanta, and both time were magical.  If you don't get goosebumps during "Defying Gravity" there is something wrong with you.  Go see it ASAP!!

I recently went on a trip to Cleveland with my high school band. during our trip, we went to see Wicked the Musical. I fell in love with the story from the start. i could see so many similarities between my life and Elpahba's. shortly after arriving home, I bought the book version as well. though very different from the play, the book was excellent as well.
the book is definitely a must-read. and the play is most definitely a must-see.

Wicked is one of my favorite musicals of all time and that's a hard list to break into... I've seen it 4 times, which I can only say of a few of my favorites and I would see it again in a heartbeat.  This CD is a must own for any Broadway theatre fan!  Stephen Schwartz has outdone himself this time.  I can't see how he can ever follow this show with something as good.

This was a fantastic show! It differed from the book quite a bit, but then again some of the book is a little too risque for family entertainment! I loved the scenery! It was one almost like one big set and it just flawlessly altered from one scene to the next! I can't wait to see it again!
