Tyler Perry has done it again. The theatrical version of Why Did I Get Married scored points, but not big points. I thought Jill Scott's character was a little depressing and needy which explains why she married the man she did. Also, Jill Scott acting could use more work because I felt the part was too big for her. Janet Jackson's Perfect Patty character was annoying but I wasn't sure if that's what Tyler was shooting for. Tyler's character in the movie was a little too forgiving of his wife. The most homest couple in my opinion was the couple that argued. Their acting was good, their problems were real, and their characters had more life and didn't appear as wooden and staged as the others. I recommend this movie to others, but if you really want to see a good version of WDIGM, rent the theatrical version. It doesn't have Tyler Perry in it, but it's still a great play.
