I would like to ask a question."Who has influence your life the moct?". My late grandmother Margaret Elizabeth Killian influenced my life the most.My grandmother showed me tremnedous stength. She taught me that you didn't have to live up to lables that others may put on you.You didn't need a man to validate you and most of all what true love, devotion and friendship means. These lessons in life that my grandmother taught me made me the strong person that I am today.I lost alot as a kid and my grandma was always there for me.When I had no parents to care for me nor any home my grandma was there to welcome me.As a child I basically lost both of my parents. My mother committed suicide and my father just turned me away and went on about his life but my grandma never did.She took me and she built me up.No matter how bad things were I could always find comfort in knowing that someone seen something great in me and I had a committment for life. This gave me confidence as a teen and as an adult.I seen more in myself that I ever knew exsisted and for once I loved me.Itw as great. As a teen I was typical hard headed but my grandmas switch was there to lead me in the right direction and it worked everytime.I had one of those grandmothers who didnt care about the welfare she was old school and you wasn't gonna disrespect her in her on house or she was gonna correct it and quick.I only got one whipping from her in my teen years but I still remeber it and now that I am in my 30's I am glad she used that stern hand because it was just what I needed. My grandmother also gave me faith and wisdom. My grandmother dragged me to church and tent revivals because she knew God was important and especially in a kids life.I found a sense of faith and comfort there. Then when I was all grown up and out on my own with kids and a husband my grandma was my best friend. We could gossip about everyone in the family and we knew everything. The both of were a regular Cagney and Lacey .We talked on the phone everyday for well over 20 years and that friendship was so powerful and it I was so glad to be fortunate enough in this life to have such an awesome friend. This inspired me to be a great Mom and to take the time to listen to my children and to have a closeness so close that you couldnt ever drive a wedge through it and I do still to this day.Last year my grandmother found out she had lung cancer. As soon as she found out 3 months later she was gone. She told me not to cry for her or she was gonna be mad.She didn't want a wake or a funeral just to be cremated and buried with her youngest child. She was so brave and so strong and her fire and her strength and the whole combination of it all has made me the strongest person in this life that I could be.I know i can handle anything and I know my best friend and my influence is just another lifetime away.My grandmother,my influnce.Who is yours?
