I bought this machine to replace my old one that died while making a costume for my son, so didn't have a lot of thought or research put into it. I asked for a machine that could handle various sewing projects and could deal with repairing heavy fabrics and jeans. This machine can do all of it. It has provided years of service and is still kicking. It is simple to use -- all the stitches are listed on the front and the dial makes it easy to select what you want. The stitch length is easy to adjust and it has a nice large pedal foot to control it. The side arm comes off so you can sew arms and hem pants easily. And the storage compartment for the included attachment feet is built into the arm--no losing them or having to remember where you put them when you need them. Only complaint with it is the weight if you move often from table to desk, but that weight is good to have while in use as it prevents it from "walking" across the tabletop.

This machine is a good choice for beginners and casual stitchers alike. There are several different stitches to choose from and the stitch quality is pretty good. I kept mine as a back-up after replacing it with a better quality machine. It is good enough to keep for doing basic sewing.

My sewing Machine is a big part of my life .I love to sew an make things on with it.I made all my cloths when i was working.Now that i am retired i use it very often.It is always ready to use.I never bother to close it or put it away.When my husbandwas working as a boilermaking it came in real handy for patching his work cloths.It is now January and i am getting ready to make my summer wardrobe.Have some beautiful patterns for summer and already have my material.Am anxious to get started.I like making my own cloths because  i can have things no one else has.My machine has a booklet on all parts and how to use all attachment and is very easy to use.I love my sewing machine and think all women who sew would love it also.
