This is a great machine for everyday jobs. I have tried heavy fabrics like upholstery or heavy denim and it bogs down a little. It does a wonderful job on repairs or sewing outfits. I used to sew a lot and always owned Singer machines, but this White machine is comparable if not better than a Singer. I am not sorry at all that I own it. Years ago I bought a Huskvarna which I simply adored, but my daughter confiscated it on me when she moved out and I really didn't want to invest in such an expensive machine. I enjoyed using this sewing machine. I am new to quilting and with the stylemaker 3100 it was a breeze. The instruction book was pretty easy to follow and whatever you didn't pick up in the book the cd has what you need. Threading the machine is very quick. I'm an average seamstress and love the ease of use for this machine. Ten minutes out of the box and I'm ready to sew.
