the greatest ice cream maker in the world!

5

This is an older fashioned ice cream maker that is all by hand instead of plugging it in and doing it that way, but that is the greatest thing about it i think. The harder you work on the ice cream the better it taste, and it will taste incredible. After trying homemade ice cream from this amazing old fashioned ice cream maker from White Mountain, I could never possibly go back to regular store bought ice cream, it isn't even close to being as good as the homemade ice cream from this ice cream maker. I have had this ice cream maker since I received it on my birthday this last May, and I honestly could never go back to store bought ice cream ever. The first time I tried this homemade ice cream maker and ate my homemade ice cream I couldn't believe that I ever settled for less! So, all in all, this makes wonderful ice cream, easy to figure out how to use, takes some work, and is very easy to clean when you are finished. Performance This ice cream maker's performance depends on your performance, it depends on how hard you are willing to work.

Poor Quality Product

After telling my children about how to make homemade ice cream, they decided that it would be fun to try. So I purchased the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker. I thought that this would be a good machine since it was a little more expensive than the others available. I took the machine home and they were immediately ready to give it a try. Within the first ten minutes of use, I noticed that the blades were starting to bend. We continued to crank the handle and within ten more minutes, one of the blades completely broke off. I immediately returned the ice cream maker back to the store for a refund. I think that the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker is a cheaply made ice cream maker and would not purchase this particular brand again. My opinion is that the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker is a waste of money. The performance of this machine is less than acceptable. I would not recommend the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker to anyone.

Old School Ice Cream

I purchased this product because it reminded me of the old ice cream maker my dad had when I was a child. I had always wanted to find a manually operated ice cream machine like those we had as kids. I think there is something special about putting a little effort in to have the good things. My wife nor my sons have never nor will they probably ever use this unit but, I will and I love it. I will admit it is a lot of effort involved but, I knew it would be. I have to say I looked forward to watching my boys try to use it. The effort of making your own ice cream is something neither one of them has experienced without some sort of electric motor attached. I have had a lot of fun and a lot of great ice cream since purchasing this unit. It reminds me of when I was a child and my dad made ice cream in one of these. If I could make one change I would make it bigger in order that I could sit on top of it and crank it like I did as a child.

Cute but not durable.

I love this ice cream maker for parties, mostly because it is entertaining and people can make their own ice cream (as opposed to a regular ice cream maker that's just automatic). You actually have to stir the ice cream yourself as opposed to pressing a button, which is also good for kids who want to help out with making the ice cream. You can have them stir it while you're cooking the rest of the appetizers and such. Durability It's definitely not as durable as other ice cream makers, mostly because it's not stainless steel, while most other ice cream makers are. Capacity It's smaller than most ice cream makers, too, but that's another reason that it's good for kids to use. It's entertaining to have at parties but, again, it's not that easy to use because it makes such a small batch. Overall, I would recommend other ice cream makers over this one, but this is good if you want to distract kids or if you want to have a more old-fashioned look in your kitchen.

Summer Time Fun!

I bought this ice cream maker for my husband, who loves old fashioned things and is very nostalgic. It's very cool and fun to use. And it make delicious ice cream. But it does take time and effort! It's a great way to put your kids to work. It's high quality construction. We've owned ours for 11 years and it's still going strong. There are quite a few parts to clean, but they are easy to wash. We honestly don't use this as often as our small electric model, simply because of the time needed and most especially, because I'm not very good at having ice made up for it. But we love it and hope to use it for many more years.

Expensive, but nothing like the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker

My family owns a 3 gallon White Mountain Ice Cream Maker that was made in the 1950's. It is very tall and the inside blades and all the workings are a metal. There is a crank handle. My family uses this ice cream Maker every summer. We had a large family of 7 and a gallon of store bought ice cream was not near enough for our family. The only alternative was home made with a huge ice cream maker. I do recommend if you see one of these older, bigger version ...buy it. There are only smaller/expensive versions at the stores now. It was nice when all of us girls had our boy friends over for 4th of July and the guys and my dad got to turn that crank. It was a real challenge to them to be the last one cranking. When my dad (who is very strong) couldn't crank it anymore, it was done. Of course, my dad put burlap on top of the ice cream maker and we sat on the ice cream maker as he cranked it. It was the most solid set homemade ice cream I have ever eaten.

Excellent homemade ice cream maker

My wife and I received this as a present at our wedding after we registered for a run-of-the-mill ice cream maker. I'd never heard about White Mountain personally, but my wife was literally jumping with excitement when she saw it. Simply put, the quality of this ice cream maker far exceeds any homemade ice cream I've had previously. You can tell even from the wood exterior that it's made of a better quality than the plastic ones you can find in any supercenter. Although this particular ice cream maker is quite noisy and takes a while, I am extremely pleased with it. What's not to love about being able to make your own ice cream with whatever ingredients you want at any given time? Although pricier than most ice cream makers, it's worth the extra investment for something of this quality in my opinion.

White Mountain Ice Cream Maker is best!

When I was growing up - homemade ice cream was something that we saw much more often than you do these days. Which is a shame because nothing tastes quite like homemade ice cream. I have tried a few different ice cream makers and I really enjoyed using the White Mountain Ice Cream Maker the most! It reminded me most of making homemade ice cream with my family growing up! This ice cream is so creamy and declious - and so easy to make! It of course, takes time but the time is SO worth it! This maker was a bit expensive, but I don't think you can skimp on money and still get a product with superior quality - so the money was well worth it and well spent in my opinion! This is a great product that makes a great ice cream - I highly recommend it!

The. Best. Ice Cream Machine. Ever.

This is the old school way of making ice cream but I promise you-- the more effort you put into it-- the better that icecream will taste! We have had a White Mountian Ice Cream Maker in the family for as long as I can remember. The only issue we have ever come across is the cost of the machine--- it can cost a pretty penny. However, we've found that people get rid of them alot in yardsales and you can get them for a steal. The last one we had that was a hand crank lasted over 40 years. It is sturdy built and again, I'm telling you, worth the time to crank your own ice cream by hand. Everything that we have seen made by White Mountain has been of top quality and is definitely worth a bit more money ---but just not too much :)

We received this ice cream maker as a gift for a recent anniversary. At first, I thought what is this thing and after I realized it was an ice cream maker, I thought, why on earth would I need this. After some time, I decided to try it out and I regret not having done so earlier. It makes wonderful, delicious old style ice cream. Overall, it is easy to use and manage, but you have to stick to the directions. I usually don't read directions so the first time did not come out so well. But once I read on how you are supposed to do it, it became much clearer and my second attempt was a great success. People actually complimented my ice cream! It's no Ben and Jerry's, but it is wonderfully delicious nonetheless. I can't say that would buy this thing on my own, but it does make a great gift. If you do get one from someone else, try it out - do not let it sit around and go to waste like I did for a while.
