White Mountain is a name I grew up with!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

The White Mountain Ice Cream Freezer is the name I grew up with.  My family always made homemade ice cream in a White Mountain Freezer.  I did not know what electric was back then we used the hand crank one.  I have always had a White Mountain Freezer.  I had my last one for approximately 30 years and it finally died in July.  I really hated paying the price for the new one which I purchased on Amazon but knew it would last a long time.

This freezer has a wooden tub unlike most of those purchased in the store that are plastic.  The metal can will make 6 quarts of ice cream.  It has a metal and wooden dash unllike others that are plastic.  This dash op...

Ice cream is amazing in this puppy

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I grew up with this ice cream maker, it's been around for a very long time. I have never been disappointed with the outcome of the ice cream from this ice cream maker. The only downfalls of this amazing machine is one that it's very loud, we normally put it outside and put a timer on so we don't forget about it. Two is that you know it's done because the motor starts going slower and if you don't watch it you can easily burn the motor up. It would be nice to have a timer on it. I personally love that it makes so much ice cream at a time. growing up with a family of 8, ice cream never sticks around for very long, and it always seems like you can't get enough of this yummy treat. If you want a very durable and quality, yet loud ice cream maker this is your best bet.

Good But Just Not For Us

Overall
Rated 3 out of 5

We had this ice cream maker for some years but it isn't in our family any more. It isn't because it was not a good ice cream maker, but because it was such a hassle to use and it also made SO much ice cream along with so much ice and salt needed, we just stopped using it and eventually it got discarded.

The Bottom Line

For the cost of the White Mountain 6 quart Ice Cream Maker which is around $200 or so, I would have preferred to purchase two Cuisinart Ice Cream Makers and make two loads of ice cream at once if I REALLY wanted a large amount of ice cream. For the most part, 1 quart feeds four or five people just fine.

If you have an ice maker, love to make large loads of ice crea...

SWEET ice cream maker!

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I LOVE the style of this ice-cream maker. I bought it for our bar area, and it matches PERFECTLY with everything in that area of my home. I also love how quickly it makes ice cream. And the amount it makes is perfect if you host a lot of parties, or have children. I have also discovered that this ice cream maker makes the MOST ice cream compared to any other that is sold in my town. I know of two commercial restaurants that own a few of these exact models, and love them as well. You can also make smoothies using this same product, with a little creativity ;) I have personally never tasted a better smoothie than one made by my new White Mountain 6 Quart Ice Cream Maker! I would recommend this to ANYONE!

This White Mountain ice cream maker is amazing!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

This ice cream maker is one that you will want to have. We've had it for almost ten years and are happy with this good quality ice cream maker. We've found that it has kept very well and has stayed in good shape even when we haven't used for a while. It has a nice sized container and makes plenty of ice cream for a large group of ice cream. It makes great tasting ice cream and you can count on creamy but firm ice cream when the machine is finished making your ice cream. The paddle is of good quality and works well in making ice cream creamy. The machine is easy to clean and store. The noise level (while ice cream is being made) is not too bad and definitely tolerable. The container is easy to store in the freezer and is also easy to clean. A great appliance to have for those times when you want to have homemade ice cream!

You won't ever have to buy another ice cream maker.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Growing up, we made homemade ice cream for virtually every celebration..and it was always just so-so. It always turned out kinda runny and had ice crystals and the machine always stopped running before the ice cream was done. This was likely because my dad is a tight-wad and would never buy anything but the cheapest ice cream maker.

When I grew up and got married and was making ice cream myself, I wanted it to be awesome. I was not really into putting in all the effort and only getting mediocre results.  My husband and I did the research and bought this ice cream freezer and we haven't regretted it for a moment.

Our ice cream turns out like the stuff you get out of the carten at the g...

Good Ice Cream Maker!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We received this as a gift a few years ago. We have probably only used it less than a dozen times. I makes a lot of ice cream so we only use it when we are having a large gathering of people. It is pretty easy to use. I do wish it had an automatic shut off on it. Some people say they can hear the motor sound change and know it is done then but I have a difficult time hearing the change. I also have a difficult time getting the motor attached properly a lot of the time. It makes really good ice cream though! I makes a mess as the ice melts so it's best to use it outside or have a bucket it can sit in. I usually forget and end of making a huge mess! Everyone in our family owns one and we usual...

White Mountain - a quality ice cream freezer that will last.

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I grew up with my entire family making ice cream with a White Mountain freezer.  Grandparents, aunts and uncles - we all had one.  My grandparents bought me one as a wedding present.  We have used it for eleven years without any problems.  The metal can allows the ice cream to freeze firmer.  I let my ice cream mixture chill for several hours before churning, and it takes 20-25 minutes for it to freeze.  The ice cream comes out creamy every time.  The ice cream will be the consistency of soft serve when it is done.  For firmer ice cream, you have to pack the freezer in ice or place the ice cream in the freezer.  The wooden tub has never leaked.  The latch has rusted, but I live in a very humid climate, and it is still moveable.  I have never owned another brand of ice cream freezer (and never plan to), but I have friends who own freezers made of plastic.  My ice cream freezes creamier and firmer than their ice cream.

White mountain is quality, you won't be dissappointed

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I grew up with homemade ice cream, so when I had a family I kept the tradition. Our first freezer was a Sunbeam, local purchase. It last many years and we were okay with the ice cream it made. When it died and we needed to replace it I found the White Mountain on Amazon. I grew up knowing that it was a brand that excelled (from Pennsylvania). It was costly, more than most, but I know it will last a long time. We have not been dissappointed. The impeller inside makes most of the difference. It has an inner "paddle" and an outer one that turn in opposite directions, thereby "fluffing" the icecream. The taste in amazing! The wooden tub is sturdy, although being wood you do have to protect it fr...

Awesome icecream maker!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I grew up with my parents making home made ice cream and as I became an adult I wanted to share the experiance with my family as well. I received this as a gift from my parents for an anniversary gift and LOVE it. It is time consuming to make...however, it really makes the best ice cream ever! Its so creamy and smooth. Not only does it make ice cream, but you can also make sherburt as well. I love how when you use this you get the old school feel, and you actually FEEL like you are making the ice cream instead of putting it in a machine and letting it go. You get to watch it spin....you get to add the rock salt....you are part of the whole process. In the end, you get to enjoy either some wonderful soft serve, or put it in the freezer and enjoy it a little later. BEST EVER!

Don't waste your money!

Overall
Rated 1 out of 5

Looks great and the high price make you think it's going to be in the family for years. Don't be fooled! I had my motor go out on mine and my parents had there's go out two weeks later. This wasn't unattended either it was while standing in the room with it. I could have bought a new freezer for each batch I made and come out cheaper. Also don't count on White Mountain to do anything about it but sell you a new motor for $105 more dollars. Don't be tempted, run from these freezers. Check the low reviews and see what they say and you will find a lot more claims to back this up.
