White Castle Microwavable Hamburgers —

I did not grow up eating sliders from White Castle. I only even had sliders from a fast-food joint three or four times, and they were from Krystal's in Texas. I really loved those! Alas, no Krystal's or White Castle in Iowa...

I tried these frozen White Castle burgers because I wanted something for a little snack. I really like them, but I can tell they won't be for everyone. They don't really taste like hamburger to me. Does anyone remember Steak-Umms? Another strange tasting "meat" product. But the package says it's beef.

I like that the bun comes out all soft. Usually, bread that has been microwaved gets really hard on the edges, but these don't. They are about the same size as the sliders from Krystal's - about two bites worth. I wouldn't buy these if you are looking for a complete meal - you'll probably eat the whole box, and they are NOT nutritionally sound, if you know what I mean. 13g of fat for two of them with 25% of it saturated!

I only pop one in my mouth when I am hungry, but not hungry enough for a meal, but I want more than a snack. I've had four in nine months. That's probably where you should stay with these artery-cloggers, so if you think you'll be tempted to eat the whole box, I would stay away. Some convenience stores sell these in a two-pack, maybe go there if you are lacking in self-control.

These are definitely a "love 'em" or "hate 'em" type product. Put me down for a "love 'em!"

And all these molded ice cream in cups and cones would be ready to go, kept in a long flat freezer compartment and they looked so pretty all out there together.

Let me tell youabout the one and only time I went to the White Castle in our area here (where I have spent my grown-up years). I had to have some medical test done at some place and I hadn't eaten or drunk much of anything all day. It's about 2 p.m. and I'm coming home and there at the bus stop was a White Castle -- the first one I had seen in my adult life. (Had never been by this address before.) I'm telling you, I went totally berserk, thought my arm was going to fall off carrying all the stuff home! Nearly made myself sick that evening but it was glorious. Believe me, they call them "sliders" for good reason!

I wish you could have seen the great square ice cream molds they used to sell back in the 40's and 50's. Tons of flavors including the prettiest (and most delicious) purple grape flavor you could have hoped for. We surely loved WC back then!

Thank you! I would love to see square ice cream in a cone! Wanna know something funny? Even when I do indulge in fast food, I rarely get onion rings or fries. I only eat one or two of them and the rest are wasted. If they were highly recommended like the WC ones, I would probably get them just to check 'em out though!

Never had a white castle burger, sounds like a alot of Sat. Fat, which I could do without. If I'm going to get fat from food, it's got to be the good kind from Cheesecake, or Banana Bread. YUM! lol

There is a White Castle in our area and I thank my personal God that it is blocks and blocks away from me. If you think the sliders are good, you probably would love the whole effect -- sliders, fries, onion rings, and God knows what all. Real White Castle sliders are square-shaped. When I was a kid, not only could you get square shaped sliders but also all sorts of flavors of nifty square shaped molded servings of ice cream and sorbet in dishes and cones.

Those of us who grew up in Illinois occasionally eating White Castle stuff figured it was a nutritional disaster abated somewhat by the fact that whatever you ate there would zip through you before it had a chance to hit your arteries. Hence the term "sliders"! I loved this review.
