Whisper Power Filters Whisper Power Filters —

I used to have the biowheel type of filter system, and found that it resulted in the aquarium going cloudy without warning. You never felt that you truly had a fresh filter. And I always had to run a backup filtration system, because the bio wheel would get clogged with solid waste. I really like the Whisper products because they process a high volume of water per hour, and water quality remains crystal clear between changes of the bio bag (the drop in packets with activated charcoal) The one thing that is a bit of a pain is the sponge that goes into the slots along with the bio bags, because it does trap alot of solid waste and get rather slimy, requiring thorough rinsing at each bio bag change. It is definitely cheaper to buy the bags in the multi packs, and fill the pouches yourself with the activated charcoal provided, but I have found over the years that what is in the pre-measured pouches is really not adequate, and I buy a container of Xylon crystal to supplement the pouch. It also makes the filter more effective against amonia build up, and amonium chloride meaning less additives to your water supply, and less chance of unbalancing the ph of the tank.
