Whirlpool Washing Machine Review

My Whirlpool Duet - top of the line (retailed 3 years ago at about $1,700 CAD - front loader makes laundry a very slow process. Oversudsing is a real problem and I only use HE detergent and use about half of the recommended amount. A load showing 40 minutes actually takes longer; when on the final spin the timer can sit on 1 minute for a very long time. Even when the cycle finally stops by itself you can sometimes hear water sloshing when you move the drum.

The seal is a problem to clean; the machine can quickly smell musty if any wet load sits too long. I try to wipe under the seal and dry the inside out after use but you just can't reach everything under the seal. I don't leave the door open due to having pets who would climb in.

While on holidays recently I read an article in a Florida daily newspaper indicating that there was a class action suit against several companies manufacturing front loaders due to the smell, mustiness, and mildew forming.
