The Whirlpool Duo frontloader washer is poorly designed!

We bought a Whirlpool Duo Washer and Dryer set about 2 years ago, and I have not been happy with the washer at all! The dryer is fine, but the washer design is terrible. Most other front loaders have a similar design. There is a rubber lip around the front opening. Water and dirt and socks(!) collect there and mold and mildew very quickly. I feel like I spend more time cleaning the washer than cleaning the clothes! There are 9 people in my family, so we do at least 2 loads every day, usually 3. I have to leave the door of the washer ajar at night to keep the mildew around the edge at a minimum. I am very disappointed in this washer and wish we had never bought it. There MUST be a better design for front load washers!
